37:20 - Theres already something called a demolition screwdriver, most tool makers have them. Generally its a #3 flat head with extra thick shaft, shaft goes through the handle so you can hammer it from behind, they often have a hex collet or square shaft so you can take a wrench to it for extra leverage, and my personal favorite from Milwaukee has a notched tip that makes it easier to pry things wiith. Basically its a screwdriver spesifically designed for all the things youre not supposed to do with a screwdriver and I absolutely love it.

Big fan of Dan and his quiet nonchalant comments. He's smart, intelligent, dry witted, low key sarcastic and able to internalize then shrug off incoming comments at him. SDR vs HDR comment was a peek at him buying time. Bringing out the replacement RTX4090 3 wide with "It's where I put my feet" was gold gold gold of throw away low key background line that made me laugh for a minute. Enough for me to decided to post a comment. Please has a live build every 3 months. Thanks!

Total newb here to computer but I’m confused. You can play whatever game at whatever frame rate you want ? As long as like the pc is powerful enough ? How come on like my Xbox series x only some games I can play at 120fps and some they just don’t have the option. Like the new Starfield game is limited to only 30fps for example. How come I can’t like turn down the graphics and up the frame rate or vice versa
@outbackshaqYT
@outbackshaqYT 6 ай бұрын
@@mysixfo8805 not all games and computer hardware will manage to run at any framerate, some games (Teardown, some Fallout games, etc) will only go up to 60fps. Same deal with xbox, can't always make it run faster by turning down some settings (though you can lower the resolution and that may help). So sometimes the creators will limit you to a refresh rate you might reach at a resolution your console will handle. No point in giving all 120hz of room to push when the console will just start hiccuping and being inconsistant as it struggles with 45fps, better to just limit you to a steady 30 with good visuals
@ThomasJacobsYT
@ThomasJacobsYT 6 ай бұрын
Consoles have a frame limit to ensure stabilty. On PC you can run a game at as much frames as your PC can handle because otherwise a very powerful pc would be useless if it was capped at 60 or 120 fps.

for the fixed handle drivers, i would actually like to see them as simple 1/4" hex based, with a really good locking fixed handle. that way we could use them in the ratcheting driver when it's needed or in the fixed handle for simple convenience. plus, if/when the drive head gets damaged, we only need a new shaft rather than a whole new driver.

Mount the case on a wall at a downward angle with the screen facing down to use it as a browser scrolling to quick access guides, etc while gaming. you could even have a tiny window open playing a movie while you game with a tiny browser open for guides etc. I can see many use for it, but it require3s custom mounting for the case itself. It could end being a super nice room feature mounted.

Instead of having multiple bore sizes for the handles, do something similar to SnapOn and have 1 size bore for just a couple of handle sizes (Small, Medium, Large). Or just 1 bore size for 1 handle size, 1 handle for everything. They have a transitional hex designed between tang and shaft (designed to put a wrench on it) that allows them to turn the shaft down to whatever size they need. Less total parts is better for all.

Great content as usual. But I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the screw drivers lol. I guess for someone who has a drawer to toss 10 screw drivers into, this is ideal. However, as a data center technician, I want to limit the amount of tools I carry to the least possible. Perhaps, respectively, you could work on a modular design similar to Wiha or Klein, where you have a grip that the blades themselves are removable and on the butt end of the handle, it expands and has bits that corresponds to a separate attachable blade that utilizes a magnetic bit holder. Perhaps double sided blades, that way a technician could carry a few blades for narrow applications, and the magnetic bit blade for the bits in the end and offer the handle in different sizes for different hands. I would buy it, if it were durable. The issue with Wiha is that the blades get stuck. The issue with Klein is that the magnetic bit is too wide. This is remedied but using long bits, but it makes zero sense on why not just design double sided bits like Wiha. They are not cross compatible, I have tried lol

Idk which ones Linus has used, but the electric "duster" (works like a vacuum, but focuses the exhaust) that I have is actually really good. It's not as powerful as a compressor, but it's way better than the compressed air cans, and doesn't stop working in no time. Also, on top of all of the waste, what pushed me to buy an electric one is how terrible the canned air dusters have become. They don't seem to hold the pressure nearly as long as they used to.

I was SOOOO happy to have the LTT screw driver! My kids bought me one for my birthday and shortly after needed to assemble a wine cabinet. It had a so many damn screws and some were tough to get to during the assembly. The driver saved me a ton of time. Also, I work in AV for a Fortune 50 company, and let me tell you, many, many are tight lipped about live event streaming and off site streaming and other practices. We have had to dive in and teach ourselves how to do a number of things so we can provide what our upper level management wants. Thankfully, it's fun as hell.

If you want to collab with DIY perks you could have a competition, you each get given the same problem and solve it in your own way, then you meet up and reveal your creations to each other and discuss the differences. You could even turn it into 3 videos, 1 each for building your solution, and another for meeting with each other to discuss the differences. I think it would be interesting to see the differences between the solution LMG and its huge resources produce compared to the expertise and aesthetics DIY Perks would produce. It also means you'd only need to be away for a day or two to shoot the collab without compromising the final products. If you come up with the right problem you might even be able to make it more interesting by gearing the LMG solution towards being a product to sell on the LTT store for people to buy and having DIY perks naturally offering the DIY alternative to it. Though obviously LMG would be putting forward a prototype for the collab rather than the final manufactured product because you'd never get a product made to LMG standards done in such a short time, and if the DIY perks solution is better you may want to incorporate some ideas from it into the LMG product or get viewer feedback.

The thing about that screen, is that you could probably just buy that kit, and not put it in the case. Just attach it to the side of your actual monitor or something. And the idea of using another video source is pretty good. You could have something like a PiKVM monitoring your system, and have a display of data without it actually impacting your system performance at all, and it wouldn't freeze if the system had an issue.

56:00 Twitch does not compress anything, except for the lower quality versions. The source quality on a stream is just a straight up `-c copy` for both audio and video, at least it used to be. Twitch explained this in their dev blog. It is much more cost-effective to impose restrictions on bitrate, resolution, frame rate, and other factors than it is to transcode the same resolution as the source.

It would be really cool to see behind the scenes for F1 as for computer tech. If you guys were able to do that I would be extremely shocked F1 teams are very closed doors, understandably. The only thing I could think a team may be down to do is maybe talk about the computer systems they use, and maybe(wishful thinking) they'd let you come to a practice day but I highly doubt it they'd let the cameras roll while the system is in use. For people that don't know, the top teams spend around $100 million a season they gotta have some cool stuff. They actually have a team back at the factory monitoring systems during races, as well as a team on site, like a command center back home then a mobile command center. Now I just thought about it, you may be able to get F1 to let you see their stuff as for what it takes to track cars and broadcast the races, definitely not as cool as seeing what the teams are using but still would be interesting

We got to see the BeOS run some amazing graphically intensive tasks, run video and just totally rock our minds. There was a game demoed called “nerd kill” that was hilarious. You had a window full of tiny walking nerds and all you had to do was click with your mouse and kill the nerds. It was an awesome demo and I distinctly remember the presenter talking about hopefully being the future OS alternative for Mac and windows users. The audience each got a CD copy of the most recent at the time version of BeOS. Later that night I remember installing BeOS on a second drive in my Power Computing Power Tower Pro 250. Regarding the statements about nearly all games not taking advantage of the highest core modern CPUs, clearly you haven't thrown Star Citizen at them. Regularly see utilization of all cores/threads on my 7950x
@leonro
@leonro Жыл бұрын
That's Star Citizen though. It will chug any hardware you throw at it without doing anything. You need to compare 7950x to 7900x/7800x to see if there's a large difference. It might just be down to lacking optimisation for extra threads, such as loading random stuff in the background in advance.

What I really want in a screwdriver is a #2 phillips with "THIS SCREWDRIVER STOLEN FROM LITTLE MEG" engraved on the handle. I have had to buy 5 replacement #2 phillips screwdrivers in just the last two years, because people keep taking them. I even quit getting Xcelite or Klein ones, and got cheap ones from Horror Fright instead, and people still stole them. #2 phillips is what I need about 98% of the time. I use a #1 phillips about 1% of the time, and all other sizes and types, combined, about 1% of the time. Does Plastidip come in pink? When I started only getting pink charging cables and USB flash sticks, people stopped stealing those.

More cache won't make difference, having the balance between frequency and cache is more important rather than just cache.

@@PatalJunior it's not on the same cores only the cores without the cache getting extra speed. Which actually makes it more complicated for OS and games to deal with

1:06:52 I have used cans of compressed air before. I found them to be useless and hate them. I bought an "XPOWER A-2 Multi Electric Computer Duster Dryer Air Pump Air Spray Blower Vacuums" and to me, it's amazing. It gets rid of all the dust for me in less than a minute. To hear Linus say that all electric blowers he tried were trash was a shock to me, the Xpower one I have was one of the best purchases I've ever made.

The purpose of the pattern, kata or form is to teach you the different moves in a memorable way and to develop the body's ability to move fluidly between techniques. like learning to dance or the alphabet. Structured Sparring teaches you how to actually use the different moves. Then free sparring teaches you to use them randomly and effectively. Most schools don't really do the last two well if at all so most people end up boxing with a few kicks thrown in.

A few more ways monitors can improve in the future. Power consumption, power efficiency, and panel heat output. I honestly don't now how much power my monitors consume, I'll admit. But I do know they throw A LOT of heat. I have a 2560x1440 main monitor and a 1920x1080 secondary monitor, both about 2 feet from me. Even with my ceiling fan on high and my desk fan, which I specifically bought for this reason, on high, my desk area gets stupidly warm.
