This gets me thinking about the sequel. And the thought of the Devine beasts pulling a power rangers and going full mega zord. With the plateau as the engine

You are only just reaching 1 year? I've only been watching your content for a few months but you've quickly become one of my favourite Zelda theorists. Your ideas are so well thought out and you justify your thoughts impeccably, you really do deserve a much larger audience.

Going to poke a hole in this theory: Zelda couldn't use the Sheikah Slate to open the Shrine in that one particular cut-scene because the Sheikah Towers had not yet been activated (which, in turn, would activate the Shrines)!

I've always thought it would be a cool idea if the floating platform you fight Maz Koshia on would be the 5th divine beast with the bike acting as an extension of it, its purpose being a 'mothership' for the guardians, having the ability to cleanse them of malice and direct them around

The idea of Master Cycle was probably modeled after legends of Epona, the steed(s) of the Hero of Time and/or Twilight. The Heroes that had access to horses... had a horse that helped them get around, so why not give the upcoming hero a sick ride to match them? You could also infer that the Shiekah originally wanted to make horse gear to better equip the Hero for the battle with Ganon (hense the existence of the Ancient Bridle and Saddle), but then decided "You know what? We could probably make a better horse than these horses!" and made a goddamn motorcycle. I don't count the Amiibo Epona as canon, since that opens the doors for a whole slew of issues.

Personal thoughts: besides unlocking, turning on, and gifting Link with a mechanical horse in the form of what we know as a motorcycle, perhaps the Master Cycle is actually just a vehicle for Link to pilot across the land for him to use in battle in a style fitting of the Hero. Imagine if the stage that the Master Cycle was found in was also a giant horse for Link to use as a last resort alongside the other giant Divine Beasts.

Interesting fact I discovered about the final trial a few years ago. If you clip outside the dungeon and go slightly above it you'll see that only the devine beast lasers are loaded in the world, everything else is an empty void

I really hope Maz Koshia returns in BotW 2. His Age of Calamity voice actor was incredible. 2023 edit: I’m guessing he departed for the afterlife during the time between BotW and TotK.

Good theory. One point of interest is that all of the weapons found are the weapons needed to remake the Champions' weapons if you break them. There is also a Gerudo shield needed for Urbosa's shield. Congrats on your one year anniversary. Congrats on getting a house. Congrats on your engagement. This suddenly made me wonder about the ancient hero and his companions that completed this trial before. What were the ancient Champions like? We really only know one had terrible aim judging by the hole through Hebra Peak :P Also, if they did complete it before, the ancient hero would've faced a living Maz Koshia! :D

6:55 keep in mind that the shrines were all unpowered until the first tower is activated, even Link is unable to open them before that

With the developers having considered the Minish for this game i think either this cycle or the small whale found in the Hetano Tech Lab would’ve been an explorable divine beast meant for a Minish champion

I think it's a possibility that the trial was made solely for him. If you think about it by completing this trial shaped like a engine, he is essentially conquering his own devine beast.

I love this theory also the bit at the end that Link can only access it with the champions with him is giving me feels. It's quite sad that he was meant to do this with his friends but had to complete it alone, but also sweet since they're still with him in a way Also I know you said to not put dungeon ideas in the comments since they'd get lost, but I already did an idea on the post and I just wanted to say this. What if as payback for not being able to pet the dogs in botw there's a dungeon based around gathering them up and returning them home? Just imagine the cuteness overload :D

Here’s a theory - Ganondorf is a strategic mastermind, given that he’s had to play a puppet master for the last 10,000 or more years. Why would Hyrule’s peoples remain divided after the calamity? My guess is that Ganondorf subtly manipulated its monsters and malice to strategically keep the people separate - not just with monsters as a deterrent, but their movement in reaction to any attempt between the races to ally and reorganize themselves. Bokoblins traverse the land, attacking Hylians, Gerudo, and Gorons. Lizalfos swim in the sea threatening any passing Zora. Lynels can shoot down unsuspecting Rito in the air. If they made any alliances, the Calamity could adjust the locations of the monsters to counter it. The age of burning fields was a period of attempting to rebuild, but Ganon sabotaging it all, until the future generations internalize fear and are taught to keep to themselves to avoid the calamity’s reactions. I had a thought about the coliseum - while Commonwealth thought it may have been a training facility for the Hylian Knights, my guess is that it wasn’t used recently, and could have been occupied by Ganon’s forces to prevent the establishment of stronghold for Hylians to use against it. Thoughts?

Actually, the whole Champions’ Ballad quest is known as the Divine Beast Tamer’s Trial. The shrines and trials were constructed by the monks after they received a vision from Hylia regarding the fall of Hyrule, so it was a final test for the Hylian Champion after he has reclaimed the Divine Beasts from Ganon’s control.

I like to think that the presence of Guardians in shrines like this one is a hilarious irony for the monks. The Guardians were supposed to fight alongside Link, and the monks were like “oh boy, won’t it freak him out when he has to fight AGAINST a Guardian? He probably spends his days thankful they’re on his side, this will be a real trial!” Then Link walks in and wrecks the Guardians in the shrines with ease because he does it all the time!

While I haven’t played the DLC, my headcanon of the trial beneath the Shrine of Resurrection is the engine that moved the plateau. There’s been a lot of speculation about how and why the Temple of Time moved, and then the BotW2 trailer made the speculation worsen once they saw Hyrule Castle begin to rise. Everyone seems to ignore the fact that we’ve seen Hyrule Castle floating in the sky before. You literally needed a magical rainbow bridge to reach it in OoT. Ganon has moved the castle before, and he’s likely doing it again in that trailer. The divine beasts were buried for centuries before the events of BotW, to the point of needing heavy excavation projects to retrieve them. Meaning those more advanced Sheikah had the tools to plunge massive machines into the ground. In other words; terraforming. Hence why the Great Plateau was uprooted and placed where it is now. And the engine that drove that terraforming is the final trial itself. That’s my take, anyways 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you think about it, the 4 Divine Beasts could also have a connection to the 4 Great Fairies in Hyrule, hence how they could be deemed 'Divine'. Though a 5th Divine Being is likely behind the Master Cycle Zero: Malanya, the Horse God... For the God who values the lives of the many Horses the Hero may have to sacrifice for his survival, what better gift to the Hero is as practical as a Steed that *can Never Die?*

I also love that, like the Giant divine beasts, the master cycle is in the shape of an animal, in this case a unicorn, which is fitting as it's the only mythological animal, for the unique job the hero has to do. Also, congrats on one year! So proud I've been able to be here since the beginning, you deserve it dude!

Urbosa: I've got a Divine Beast that's massive and looks like a camel and it can strike lightning at will. Revali: My Divine Beast is an eagle, equally massive that shoots lasers. Daruk: I have a Divine Beast that can make magma fall from the sky and stomp really hard to destroy many things in its path! Mipha: My divine Beast can conjure ice arrows and ice blocks as well as have a near infinite supply of water. Link: My Divine Beast is basically a motorcycle that looks like a horse lol
