Whenever I speak about what I'm wearing after I get a complement, I try to encourage men to care about their style. I explain to them what I do and how I do it (thrift stores, learning, having fun). I help them along the way if they reciprocate. I also make it a habit of mine to always learn the history of a piece of clothing before I buy it as well. Like a peakycap or leather jacket. It's a learning curve, and that's what I'm proud of.

Here is my "why" - Since middle school, I was bullied every day. Then, I wore soccer clothes and went into an "emo" dressing phase. One day, I noticed that the way I dressed made friends, family, and teachers view me as something I was not. From that day (12 years ago), I have dressed nice. The results have paid off more than anything else in my life. Getting jobs is easier, no negative first judgments, and promotions happen quickly. (As a sidebar, I was promoted from a job after being there less than a month, over people there more than a year, because I "looked the part" and was "well dressed enough to put in front of parents.") Now, I am in law school, have worked for a state supreme court justice, and meeting big law lawyers for possible jobs. Currently, I am getting into shoes for the first time, and get complements on my Allen Edmonds Hamilton boots when I run into meetings. My style has improved, but I am still learning.

@@sipsimies1588 "Big law lawyers"... that is the phrase I used. "big law" is a type of law firm that employs more than 200 lawyers and pays well. It is the type of firm you see on TV shows like Suits. So when someone says, "big law lawyers" they are speaking about the lawyers that work in big law firms. (this is as opposed to any other employee at a big law firm)

Yes on etiquette! Yes on manners! I'm British, so the whole "gentleman" thing is fairly engrained in our culture, and I find it endlessly fascinating how so many people approach it like putting on a costume- I'm dressed as gentleman today, hypebeast tomorrow. My “why” is simple: I want to be a good example for my children. Every father wants to look at his kids and say they’re exceptional, but I know that mine can outshine me by a light year someday as long as they have a solid base; I wake up every day and go to work to build that base for them. No other reasons necessary.

My “why”: I’m tired of looking and living in the ghetto tired of working for nothing. Today I put out some resumes at 5 star/luxury business resorts and stuff and that’s all I’m applying for, high class. I love what you said about etiquette. My grandmother sat me at the table when I was 8, at a formal dinner setting and showed me how proper etiquette. She told me, proper etiquette is a moral obligation. To do unto others, as you would have them do unto you. Manners and respect will carry you through the world. Great advice! I like to dress well for work, even though many people dress business casual, most of my colleagues do not make an effort to dress well. It communicates that I am serious about my job. Being detail-oriented is an important function of my profession, and I like projecting that with my attire. I dress well for church. It communicates to ME, that this is important. God deserves my best. It puts me in the right frame of mind for the service. I dress up for dates with my wife. I like to plan occasions where we dress up. It affords us the opportunity to see each other at our best. It communicates to her, that she is my most important person. Why should my boss get my best, and she get less? I spend my work days with him. I am spending my LIFE with HER!

Hi, Antonio! I am a great fan of your channel and I have been following it closely for years. I think you are the undisputed leader in the field. You mention so many professions when you give your examples, but you never mention diplomats. I am a diplomat and I have to dress smart everyday and the same goes for Government experts who work administrative jobs and are expected to wear suits. I am sure we/they learn how to dress well mainly thanks to your channel. Me and my colleagues often discuss your videos. It would be really cool if you could include us in your list, right next to the lawyers and the upper end businessmen. All the best, you are great!

My "why" is finding confidence in myself. I've been a pessimist my entire life, bordering on depression most of the time until my ex cheated on me. I've spent almost a fourth of my life with her, and I realized I constantly had to put myself in the backseat for other people. I've gotta take care of myself, put myself out there and grab me some self-esteem because no one else will. I know it's petty but I feel this is the start of a great journey.

I´ve read the original e-book years ago and needed all the time that passed since to fully understand why the attention one gives to his looks affects self-esteem and self value. With ups and downs that happenned in my recent past there was no better motivator than being recognized as being equal in company and/or social hierarchy. Even my son looks up to me as a someone to respect - not by demanding it, but by admiring his father. Keep the great job Antonio, I´m looking forward to read the 7DSS again (and pass it to the ones that may need it)!

Any room or store you walk into ALLLLL eyes is on you!!! People treat you with respect, women are on their best behavior when speaking to them, when you perceive all this treatment, it is important that you do the work and introspect, so that the way that you look and are perceived is congruent with what and how you feel about yourself internally, then your life will really change for even more the better!

I started dressing a little better a few summers back and didn’t really take it seriously until that winter when I went to a botanical garden Christmas event and was just wearing snow clothes cause I didn’t have any stylish cold items. As I was walking around I saw this guy who was wearing a peacoat and a sweatshirt which was kind of my wake up call cause he looked so so good. Right away I picked up a black peacoat and a few different color scarfs. I’ve never looked so good in the winter before!

I used to work for a UK tailor and we didn't say "communication, cut, construction", we said "message, measurements, material" but it's the same thing! Great video!

Great work, Antonio. Decades of dressing how the government told me to dress left me nearly clueless after losing about 70 pounds. I was then thinking "what now?" Although I still wear the uniform at my day job, I took the time to educate myself on how to dress well for me. No looking back!

I've been improving my style over the last 6 months and this video confirmed that I'm going in the right direction. I wore a suit jacket and tie to a recent zoom interview and was complimented by the hiring manager about how professional I looked. Now I'm looking forward to overhauling my wardrobe to dress with the end goal in mind.

You made a comment that had me say out loud, "Thank you!" Style is on my mind every time I put on clothes. But, I am not a lawyer, or a professional businessman. I "manage" a small casino. But the primary source of my income comes from tips. I rarely receive them. After talking to many of the regulars I'm told its the way I dress and carry myself. They tend to believe I'm the owner and therefore don't need their charity. This has plagued me since I was a child. We shopped at thrift stores. But I always put together timeless style, ironed my clothes, ensured proper fit, color-coordinated. Simply put, I never looked sloppy. As a result they always thought I was rich when in fact I was poor. They always viewed my as a leader although I constantly combat anxiety. I've even lost relationships over the impression that the women were somehow lesser than me because of my structure. They needed me to be sloppy, make mistakes and be irrational sometimes. But even my sloppy is calculated. These concepts of style don't fit The Plumber, The Blue Collar Guy. I know this isn't the channel for it, but I need help being The Everyday / Every-man's guy.
