Every level was richer than the one that precedes but Level one was so sweet and beautiful just the root and the third. Nice lesson, I will definitely try all of those levels.

I get a level 9 with my feet! 🤣 I think that less is more. R-3-7 is perfect and enough for harmonisation. Especially in a band play context. Even just 3-7 (target notes) with the bass playing roots. 😉

Awesome! Thanks for your videos, best explanations found ever for ambient music creation. Finally someone who can explain emotions through theory, avoiding to say “man, let it flow, I make music by feeling (only)”

Complexity, creativity, and richness does NOT equate to better. It could but with most things in life it doesn't. If any beginners are here then find time to learn some hard rock/metal and real honky tonk country music. These are genres I don't necessary like but if you get the hang of that music this 'post/math rock' is Childs play.

Damn this was a good video. So much to learn, experiment with and practice. Crazy. Love it. If you feel like it or haven't done it yet, it'd be great if you made a wee video on your gear too, guitar pedals and preferred order etc. As always, amazing work mate!

I agree, Antoine, this is great! What happens when we get to level 22? Do we have all our fingers & toes on the fretboard?! (Maybe even at level 10, the way you're going!) Thanks!

This is a very good lesson. The minor + major 7s and 11s. Antoine, have you heard the guitar solo by Coldplay for "Low" off of X and Y album 2005. I'm not sure what those two note intervals he is playing for the guitar solo. But it reminds me of this lesson. Do you have any thoughts on that? I really liked this song, and that time frame for Coldplay. Maybe there is dissonance going on in "Low" its catchy, different. Oh wow, mind blown up to level 7 ! Great video.

@@AntoineMichaudGuitar The solo on Low off of X&Y album it starts at 3:54 But I love the part at 4:23, its kind of U2 sounding, but seemd to employ the techniques you put out in this video. aY? See Coldplays version below on YT , I put the link

kzfaq.info/get/bejne/it-aq9GTnc66oGg.html I thinks its slowed down so they played it fast when they recorded it Like Rain by the beatles The solo at 4:23 is interesting it sort of drips out like syrup.

I find that adding a lot of color in chord cadences takes too much away from subsequent loop layering. It brings about more interesting modulation opportunities.
@AntoineMichaudGuitar
@AntoineMichaudGuitar 2 жыл бұрын
Great point! You could still find a complex chord you really like and deconstruct it into several layers for your loops! It's an interesting way to work backwards from the final harmony you want.

I do like this video very much. But as a critique, you would almost never play a Major 7 chord with it's 3rd and Natural 4th at the same time as you do at 5:11, at least when playing in such a tonal context. Whether it's in the implied key or not. It's usually substituted with a #11 (raised 4th), like you did with the C chord.
