Sounds right up my alley. Glad you noted that it's fun in short bursts.. playing for review must often run the risk of making a good game feel like a chore if you're trying to get thru it on a deadline.

I’m really loving how the spirit lamp totally reminds me of the umbral lamp in the new Lords of the Fallen. I’m loving the SSD in our PS5’s! Very cool. 🤙🏼

Great review! Was hoping this wasn’t only going to be a puzzle game but happy to hear a about the 8+hr game length. I will pick this up eventually for sure but am holding out for Vertigo 2.

Still seems like such an interesting title, ill definitely check this one out eventually. It sounds like the devs have done a decent job dropping it multi platform. I wont hold my breath, but hopefully we will see a few of those extra touches patched in the near future. If not, still sounds like a solid game.

hope they add in haptics and adaptive triggers support in the future, either way, the 7th Guest VR looks like a real fun and spooky, puzzle adventure game. Im definitely looking forward to playing it at some point

I remember as a kid playing this on release with my dad on pc. Now I’ll be playing it with my son. Loved the original puzzles and was already decided on buying this before watch any reviews. Thanks for the video.

I think I might give this a try. I have been interested in playing the 7th guest for quite a while. And it a nice touch they used fmv just like the original. which is surprisingly not common in vr titles while in gameplay

This is definitely the best way to experience The 7th Guest these days. The original is clunky and honestly a little boring these days (and it doesn't even run on my Steam Deck). I hope you like it as much as I did! :D

At least it appears to pass the critical Bryan Paul checklist: 1. Do you have novelty hands? 2. Do you have a flashlight? 3. Can you pick stuff up and throw it around? OK, so that was the litmus test for an immersive VR game about 6 years ago. Admittedly we have slightly higher expectations nowadays! 😂 Shame the puzzles aren't a bit more original, or better integrated into the narrative (Red Matter has spoiled us, lol) but this still sounds fun. Never played the original, so this holds no nostalgia for me, but as a fellow fan of old-skool point and click games of the era, I'll definitely still be picking this up ... but maybe I'll wait for a sale. OK finally picked this up in the sale. Holy shit this game rules!! Love the 3D FMV actors, and the graphics are great. Puzzles are all fair and logical, so far.. I'm about 5 rooms in. Already kicking myself for having used a few hints, but it's one of those where u kick yourself for not having figured it out yourself.

How did you get such good color and brightness on your social screen? Every time I watch or record social screen, it is waaaaaaay To dark, Can’t see anything. I’m guessing you doctored it through post production?

Didn't touch it at all. The only ones that didn't look very good on PSVR2 so far were Propagation (way too dark and low FPS) and Saints and Sinners 2 (also low FPS).

Can definitely agree on propagation being too dark. But hmm I may have to fiddle with my TV settings a bit, try get a brighter output for live social screen when playing. Thanks for the reply!! Love the channel! And appreciate all your hard work!!

Yeah. It has click turning and teleportation. I just picked it up. It's pretty good looking game. I'm only in the third room. Not too difficult.

You have to beat all puzzles without using a coin, find every photograph etc and there are some very specific things you have to do during the game that will take some time. So it's "hard" because it's time consuming, not because it requires skill

HELP: Where’s the Ouija Board? The options screen says that it’s the same button as you Ghost Lantern, but I’ve pressed every combination of buttons on both sense controllers, and nothing. I’m now at the last part of the game (I think… I’m in the attack’s sealed-off room aligning the solar discs), and yet, still no Ouija Board. Was this something I was suppose to pick-up somewhere but missed it?

The Ouija Board is the menu the pops up in your left hand when pushing L2 I believe. It's where your map/hints/etc all show up. If it's not appearing something's definitely wrong....

I was too young to appreciate the 11th Hour back when it 1st came out. The environments were enough to freak me out and I couldn’t even go upstairs cuz it was too dark. Now that I’m older and love horror games, I’ll definitely check this out.

I realised after buying red matter that I’m just not into puzzle games. Appreciated the visuals but I need something other than just puzzle after puzzle. Resident evil is perfect for my attention span. Horror action game with the odd intricate puzzle thrown in for good measure. I have heard red matter 2 has more action though so might check it out at some point

Hey Fred. It all depends when I record the voiceovers. Most of these were recorded yesterday after way too much coffee (and I had a stuffy nose) so maybe it was a result of that? :D

Instant BUY!! ...off-topic: HOW do I output a "rectangular" social screen live video?!! (edited: On PlayStation VR1) I can only output to Twitch or KZfaq a live video with rounded corners on the topside of the screen like a "spherical" image. How can I fix this?! TNX

You're getting the spherical image on PSVR2? That was an issue on PSVR1 but I haven't seen that on PSVR2 yet. Anyway I'm capturing the social screen output with an Elgato HD60 card and saving the video on my PC

Red matter 2 was my first puzzler game on vr, it was a great game. Played red matter 1 when it released on psvr2, it was repetitive. I don’t think i can play another puzzle game for awhile.

I played both , and red matter 2 its more unique with puzzle compare to 1 , I think 7th guest will be more difficult puzzles and different, will be fun

If I remember correctly the 1990's 7th Guest had a few 'adult' scenes, which usually was nothing more than a topless scene, not uncommon for many FMV games of the era. Was this aspect of the game retained or was it 'adapted for modern audiences'?

Having just played through the original I can say I didn’t see any adult scenes. No nudity.

The MS-DOS 7th Guest never had nudity. During development, there was an idea to release 2 versions of the game, a normal and explicit version that would contain nudity/sex scene(s), probably for the Burden/Edward Knox scene, where after solving the puzzle Burden can be heard making noises when activating the bed. I think adult scenes were created for the game, however they were never released or made available.

The only addition to your review score i can think of is to say roughly how long it takes to beat a campaign. Sometimes that is a way to judge if the cost is justified

Agreed, I did mention in the conclusion that it'll take about 7 or 8 hours --- but that totally depends how good you are at solving puzzles since that's all you're doing the whole game. I feel like I went a little slow so you might finish faster than I did

Sad, I had more interest in ghosts than zombies. Propagation isn't my cup of tea, but there seem to be quite a lot of Cons. I liked that Propagation had more action. I hoped it would be a horror game where u have to fight and survive, not just a The Room based one.

Yeah it does look a little washed out in the headset. It takes awhile to get used to and I would have loved an option to bump up the contrast --- would have actually make the environments spookier

@@WithoutParole Kubrick was into puzzles, with a heavy leaning toward the renasceance, Havent played the game though, reminds me of the overlook hotel, the holograph people kind of mind melded Jack and Dannys hallucinations. .

A platinum for a puzzle game can't really be hard. Just look up a guide. Nobody would actually search for collectibles either. Unless I am missing something it should be rated as easy.

Yeah if you feel like cheating your way through the game I agree, it's fairly easy (although the final game's trophy will still put up a challenge). I guess I was assuming people wouldn't want to ruin it for themselves

i ended up getting it on steam since it looks washed out on psvr2. I like that one of the puzzles is literally the puzzle game called "Rush Hour" but with coffins instead of cars.

@@MrLemztheLengGamecat I wonder if Madison will be even more terrifying. Lol at times I was holding my finger above the pause button just in case a jump scare pops up. Even the bravest fall victim sometimes and I gotta say it takes a lot to scare me but Propagation somehow did it. Even Saints & Sinners almost had me a few times in the dark areas

@Living_L393nd honestly I played a bit more tonight of it and my wife was in stitches watching me panic playing it , I had my heart racing quite a few times , I played through madison on console already and that was enough for me I completed it on ps5 but I don't think I'll ever be able to do that in vr 😅😅

I’d enjoy Red matter games but I’m not a fan generally of puzzle games. Not going to bother getting this one looks boring. Spider man 2 out this week and Alan Wake 2 out next week. Apart from Alvo, crossfire and propagation hotel. Psvr 2 is a bit flat at the moment. No Phasmasphobia this month now either!
