Great top 3 but 4 places on this list definitely ignore your own list parameters. I'd put Berwyn, Evergreen Park, Elmwood Park, and Des Plaines, as suburbs that would offer a young "urbanite" a better city adjacent feel than any of Naperville, Downers, Tri cities, and arguably Brookfield (but that one could go both ways)

These are great suggestions JP, thanks for sharing. Great towns you mentioned. We have so many great neighborhoods across the whole metro area.

I appreciate your response. I agree we're lucky to have so many wonderful neighborhoods. I personally am very passionate about the distinction of "urban suburbs" vs traditional suburbia so I'm sorry for being critical. Though I stand by my critiques.
