In particular, it offers RTX 4050 and RTX 4060 gaming performance at 45W of power, and the Cyborg 15 utilizes a i7-12650H or i7-13620H processor with 6 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. not only that, it has absolutely terrible cooling by today's standards. It would be literally cheaper to make this laptop with i5 but 2 fans, but msi chose the marketing strategy instead and as a result we get a super underperforming hardware. an i5 would perform better with better cooling.

1000$ is kinda cheap for a modern gaming laptop, it's been that way for a long time. But to be fair entry level did go up a bit, 3050 laptops were like 800-900. I agree that 4000 series are overpriced for sure.

@@blasianking4827 several years ago you could buy a **60 class GPU for 1000 dollars. Now it's a *50 class, not even desktop 50 class as laptops are cut down again like before 1000 series. So, considering the laptop is very cheaply built and has terrible cooling it's overpriced. It doesn't really matter that it has an i7 because power limits are gonna be super low it'll perform worse than i5 in a dual-fan gaming laptop like Asus TUF or Acer Nitro 5. Not to mention a terrible 35 watt power limit for the GPU. If I'm not mistaken a 4050 can go over 100 watts, so imagine how it would perform at 1\3 the power. Not well. Yes, 1000 dollars is considered a budget option for a gaming laptop, but in this case it's a really poor value one. You'd be much better off buying a last year's 3060 laptop on a discount, it would perform noticeably better for about the same price.

Only 1 fan, bad dim screen with inaccurate colors, low wattage 4050, and HDMI 2.0 in 2023. This thing is not good value considering I saw a predator with an i7 12700H with a 3060 go for $999 on sale recently. That thing has HDMI 2.1, better CPU, an actual good screen, and a high wattage 3060...

I hope AMD or even Intel can give us a good low end gpu at a much better price point than what Nvidia wants for these 4050s. I'm really interested in the benchmarks now if they think this is a good price point for the 4050.

I just picked up an open box Legion 5 with 5800H CPU/3050 TI GPU for $569 at my local BestBuy too! I upgraded the RAM to 16GB for an extra $25 and now ive got a machine that should compete with the 4050 plus better build quality and better 165HZ display

40 series seems like a massive scam, and there is no reason why they could not patch in dlss 3 into nvidia 30 series and get double the performance for dlss3 supported games

It's weird they'd put a 12650h on it with a 3050 and then cool it with just one fan blowing on two heatsinks. Even if the 4050 can run on 35watts and match a 75w 3050Ti if the cooling system is like this why not just put a 12500h in there. I seriously doubt two less P-cores would bottleneck a 4050 compared to a 12650h being thermally limited.

I was initially considering an ASUS TUF Dash F15 or ASUS TUF GAMING F15 with Intel 12th Gen Alder Lake...........but after hearing rumors that 4060 mobile beats 3060 desktop, the urge to wait for 2023 laptops made me think again

I guess they cant have the low end being too good or nobody would buy mid-top end. Its kinda sad though. The 4050 should have same gains over 3050 that the other cards have over their older counterparts. Nvidia cant get shh right. I just seen the MSI Raider with 4060 is over 2000 dollars!?!! I can’t imagine anyone is going to buy that one

probably 1 thing that let me think a few times to get this laptop is: only 2 USB port, I have 3 wireless device and I just kinda confused where do I put the third device. the alternative way is to buy extended USB port, but, ya know...

This 4050 is restricted to 45w tgp, which is equivalent to 1650. Its not even close to 3060 110w tgp.

I just got mine hot enough while functioning 99% to 105% I mod it based on the percentage gauge they use. Also the power brick will need to get hot , then I put mine inbetween two thermal arcade pc plated made for little motherboards to act as a dual side thermal stabilizer then add a small fan / have fun

Nothing but marketing... It would perform better if it had an i5 but 2 fans and it would literally be cheaper for them to produce as fans and airvents are dirt-cheap to make. Imagine buying an "i7+4050" laptop only to get 11-th gen i5+3050 performance of something like Nitro 5 from last gen. Thanks for the video!

@@fal2218 if choosing between these 2 the msi one will definitely be better, but I suggest to choose something like Acer Nitro 5 or Asus TUF instead of this if that's possible, with an RTX 3060 or a 4050. Price of a thousand dollars for a single fan gaming laptop seems unreasonable.

the TDP for those cards is scary 45W for the 4060 mobile and 4050, it's too low, where is that insane performance at third of the max TDP of those 4000 RTX mobile cards that get activated or not depending on the situation ? we thought the RTX 3000 Series was weird with it's max TDP difference between manufacturers, now it seems that things will be be even more confusing

They are comparing to a 45w but with dlss3 so not a fair comparison only a handful of games support dlss3, the rest probably run slower with 45w

@@GerryReid exactly what iam saying comparing DLSS3 is a scam, that means on other stuff if the max TDP is 45W the performance will be terrible, the 4080/4090 mobile they have that 45W(the third of the max performance to keep the PC cool, XMG talked about hard to dissipate heat since those chips are smaller than the 3000 RTX Series version)mode but they can go up to 175W i don't know what nvidia is pulling here

Honestly, I like this laptop after buying it. It's one of the few laptops I've returned after opening it. It's a great device for what it is. The laptop is great overall in it's comparable class. Way nice than Asus laptops. Works fine for me

Single fan and low end MSI quality I wouldn't pay a dime more than 700. 4050 isn't even fast 3060 is still faster and only 6gb VRAM last gen's 3060 has come to bite this gen's 4050 lmao

The 4050 would probably be about 30-40% more powerful, but would depend on which game a lot most likely.
