I grew up just off Marsh Lane there’s a lot of good people around there, they’d give you the coat off their back or their last tenner believe me. Most places have their bad areas, Bootle’s no different. I’ve got boss memories growing up round there, it’s character building. 👍🏼

someone said to me speke boulavard was the roughest area in liverpool , i worked on the estate for months, on a row of shops with flats above , they were next to a pub called the flying saucer , the lads doing the labouring work were all off the estate ,had a great laugh with them cracking bunch of lads,i had never seen so many scousers that acted exactly the same as Harry Enfields scouscers sketches,,

There was absolutely nothing wrong with that block of flats when they where abandoned. They could have easily been refurbished at £20k per flat and providing a rental income for the owners. Instead they just let them rot and everything around it as well. DISGRACEFULL. NOTHING UNUSUAL.
@mirandamcmanus2097Ай бұрын
Thay could still save them now. The councils spend money houseing homeless family's in b+bs for months even years. Thay could refer the high rises for family's the council would receive rents for them making money for new houseing stock.

I’ve only ever really been in Liverpool city centre, and also once walked from there to Anfield, via Everton Park- which was not really rough, we ended up calling in a pub called The Theostles Nest and then through a new build estate right next to Anfield…
@tonyceltic80099 ай бұрын
Everton Park was once an area of row upon row of terrace slums which all got knocked down in the 60/70s they moved every one out mainly to kirby etc after the slums they built loads of multi storey flats and maisonettes etc then knocked all them down! Then left the whole area as one massive park which is nice now and great views over the mersey
@spookygeek94599 ай бұрын
Where I live in Toxteth , we got a flat looks same like that and I was filming the tower. The one I’m living in there for supposed to knock it down but people bought it and rent it out. Shame when I leave it to go to waste like that, I could’ve done it up and put people in specially the homeless people. 😮

We need to tackle the underlying causes of violent crime in communities such as lack of housing and unemployment (which Billy’s vids have shown us many times). Investment in youth services and mentors is key to helping young people escape violent lifestyles. Drugs being the motive behind the majority of crimes. Between October 2021 and June 2022, 49,991 non-fatal crimes using knives were recorded across England and Wales Office for National Statistics. Shows this is equivalent to 136 stabbings every single day.

From the 4th year senior school. I carried a knife in my school bag in the mid 90s in birmingham, as I was sent to a senior school in a area that we had trouble with & this was in the 90s lad. But remember my old man going mad for taking a knife to school. Wanted to know why. Edit: and that was out of fear as all my pals went to another senior school, but my parents to get my away from that crowd sent me to a school in the heart of an area we used to have fights with. I was on my own most days walking back home having older lads from my school giving it the big’en, I was 14 at this time to !!

I'm not familiar with liverpool, but i went to bootle with my mum as she had an appointment there the day the PS3 was released. I remember it being rough as old boots. On the Derby Road it was just run down, burnt out and boarded up old factories and pubs and there didn't appear to be many street signs because i think they were getting nicked for scrap. I even saw a car up on bricks with it's wheels off on the side of the road. I remember seeing this tower block on the day as i was always a fan of tower block architecture, i remember that pattern on the side of the block. Really was a dreary horrible place that is burned into my mind and i was only about 11 at the time.

I live off marsh lane, literally where billy was standing. Might be shooting myself in the foot here but I've never had any trouble. My neighbours are great, we're mainly young families and retirees. North park is brilliant for young kids, the park and baths within walking distance. Kingsley bookshop, kids bookshop in the strand, is brilliant and the manager has a real passion for kids literacy. If you have primary aged kids or grandkids please take them. Further up derby park is lovely to walk around full of follies and monuments. Its not rough, i feel safe walking from the strand station home from work in the dark on my own. The lock and quay hold loads of community events. Yes, bootle looks run down, yes it isn't as affluent as crosby or southport but dig deeper and its not all bad. I feel this video does it a bit of injustice really.
