Get a couple ceiling fans, that will help keep the heat circulating in the winter! Also spray foam insulation might be a good call on the walls with some drywall as a final layer. Will help a ton with energy bills lol. Oh an new windows!

you should definitely look into filling the steel with insulation and ply boarding the whole room or even half way up then you can paint it make it nice and cool and hang things easier!

Venting: in Germany we have Power efficent decentral venting elements. It has a ceramic core and vents one minute outwards warming the core and one minute inwards using the cores warms to pre heat outside air. I dont know it this is available for your big vents, but its energy efficent. See Panasonic FV-GKF32S1 Passive Inlet Vent

I guess the AC guys could not do it elsewhere to solder on the copper pipes, they are doing a reasonable length. My experience is in Hong Kong, we take the Jenkin's to the extreme. we usually hold up three times the length that they are holding, but we just want to make sure no leaks, more solder joints more fail points. I senior installer will try to do the lease soldering points and just wing it, wiggling the copper pipes with insulations into where they are supposed to go.

Something that might help Okachan when he needs to move is to hold a pillow against his stomach. It will prevent his stomach from moving around. It helped me after my appendectomy, which involved 3 small incisions.

I had to go to Malaysia for work a few years ago. The level of sketch I saw on building sites in Kuala Lumpur makes those air-conditioning blokes look like they're following stringent OHS rules. There were blokes stood on saw horses on the tiny ledges of half finished multistorey buildings without any safety harnesses. I tried to avoid looking at them too much as I didn't want to go home having witnessed a bloke smoking a cigarette fall 30+ odd metres to his death.
