The VA for Uncle Ruckus, Gary Anthony Williams, not only ad libs a sizable chunk of his lines for added shock and comedic value, he also regularly dresses up as Ruckus and walks around in character at events, and even promoted a fundraiser for a Boondocks live-action movie as Uncle Ruckus.

I was shocked when I saw the cosplay. He looked EXACTLY like Uncle Ruckus. I was disappointed the movie didn't get greenlit. I suppose a full dose of Ruckus would be too much for modern audiences.

He used to, he's lost a lot of weight since then. In a video from a few years back where he, as Uncle Ruckus, praised Kanye for visiting Donald Trump at the White House he opted to just use a cardboard cutout of Uncle Ruckus because he knew he couldn't pull off the costume anymore.

@@gabrielesolletico6542 Yeah. Idk if it was MOST of them, but a lot. I couldn't give a list but I'm pretty sure that when he said "a job application!" in his list of "tools", that was adlibbed. The voice actor is a great guy and also a comedian, he loves Uncle Ruckus so much he used to cosplay the character and go around acting like him at conventions, though he doesn't anymore because he has lost so much weight on a weight-loss journey that he feels like it just doesn't look the same. He thinks Ruckus is hilarious and really did his best with the job. He even supported a theoretical live action movie about Uncle Ruckus with him as the character, but it never worked out.

His voice actor is Gary Anthony Williams, he played Smart Brother in Undercover Brother. Williams enjoyed voicing him so much he goes to conventions dressed up as Ruckus, they have videos on youtube. He even tried to have a live action movie made back in 2014 😂

Gary Anthony Williams has said that he enjoyed playing Uncle Ruckus immensely. He says that it's really fun to just play such an unabashedly shitty and hateful character, which kind of tracks with what I've heard actors saying of how fun villains are to play. Back before he lost weight he even cosplayed as Uncle Ruckus on a few occasions.

I love the Boondocks. The writer did a serialized comic strip addressing this stuff for years. Seeing his ideas and observations of his own community crystalize from a 6 panel comic strip (like peanuts or garfield) into this animated masterpiece is truly amazing. At leat for the first three seasons. I wish there was a Hispanic version of this series, being Hispanic myself. We all need to take a hard and satirical look at ourselves to really grow.

Ruckus is an amazing character. I love this hateful old man. Racist jokes are hilarious. Any humor that's edgy or pushes boundaries is great because while it's cranked to 11 to be hyperbolic, there's a tinge of truth to most stereotypes. That's what makes them funny. And in a society where you have people so weak minded as to get offended at every little thing on others behalf, you need to whip out the figurative BBC and smack these prudes across the face with comedy from time to time. Watch them shatter like a piece of glass on a blacksmith's anvil. It's great. XD

Look at this and what they tried to do with Velma. Even in this clipped format, there is a lot of nuance to the character and how the other characters react to him. Boondocks had some amazing dark humor, but it also had a real message hidden inside of all of it. Modern stuff just doesn't know how to make social commentary while still being funny or entertaining.

Uncle Ruckus could be thrown back in time to the era of the Middle Passage, find himself trapped on one of those slave trading ships as a slave, and still find something rancid to say about black folks. He's THAT fucking racist! Half the reason why his character works so well is because his comments, actions, and entire belief system are incredibly outlandish to the point of hilarity. The other half is that said comments, actions, and entire belief system are unnervingly close to real-life. I'm quite sure there is a real life Uncle Ruckus somewhere in the world who has done at least half of what this man has done.

Uncle ruckus used to get beat everyday basically by his dad and his dad was a deadbeat so not surprising he hates them so much, not that it makes what he says ok just more context, still makes me cry laughing to this day every time I hear him go off
