I invested in Action Boy to run and fire, I also turned the nearby sentry guns to fire at him.

Chosen one would of most definitely got destroyed by frank if not for the turrets and enclave troops in power armor.

Well here the thing, even though he is tag in unarmed, he only does 5 damage. He would be much more efficient just to shot the chosen one

Frank doesnt believe himself to be a mutan, he has a whole body dysmorphophobia thing going out where he sees himself at normal. Besides realistically, a minigun would be better to take down someone shooting at you than running at them and smashing them.

In the lore he’s apparently dumb, which is odd since he has an intelligence of 10

Yeah, you can convince the Control Company to help you take down Horrigan and escape. They were assigned to assist Horrigan in stopping the Chosen One from reaching the Tanker, which means they would have to be quite well skilled soldiers.

@@sander4656 as long as your AC and HP are high enough, but considering you can only carry one stimpak on you, and it costs AP just to open your inventory, I'm gonna say the odds are real fucking low without min-maxing the shit out of yourself. When you factor in the things your character is realistically meant to accomplish, you realize just how much more imposing you are than even the deadliest wasteland beast and killer. Frank was a genetically enhanced and trained soldier who went around slaughtering Vault Inhabitants and peaceful deathclaws. You get some training in a cave and suddenly you're Johnny McTribalChrist who can effortlessly traverse the wasteland and singlehandedly bring down entire factions. Frank is the most physically imposing Fallout antagonist, but he's still just an uber deadly combo of things you already face in the wasteland.

Actually you can't. I've tried. I did a whole run of Fallout 2 dedicated to bare fist fighting. Used every bug, perk and journal to the unarmed fighting. Strength was maxed out, unarmed skill was exceeding 200%. Chosen one was able to beat to death enclave soldier in mk2 power armor and a deathclaw in one-two turns with bare fists. When i faced Frank, i was able to break all his limbs, and disable his plasma cannon, but all my hits did zero health damage, and he was able to deal huge damage to me despite broken limbs. Had to use gauss rifle despite having low skill in guns, and almost run out of time. Frank was the only opponent i wasn't able to beat with bare hands.

To be honest, i think realistically frank would just be almost immune to bullets at that point, he has the cover of the best power armor in the game and the extremely hardened skin of a super mutant under it. Even after that he still needs to be severely damaged to stop fighting. I think one of the few ways to kill him would be to crush him with an extreme force.

In my play through I did it with the turrents and sgt granite along with Goris, Marcus, vic and sulik. I never attempted without the turrets before tho, but with turrets it’s a lot easier I’m guessing.

silver tongued devil; intelligence that'd make a computer cry, agile like a cat, there could be many conclusions. but to be frank, (pun not intended) I think they only knocked him out. even with all the firepower the had, he was a walking tank with the drive to not die by what anyone had -- except for maybe the self destruction of the oil rig, now THAT is what i find is what really killed Frank.

same here; i figure the oil rig explosion is what did him in.

I used the Fallout 2 Bozar which was a sniper rifle, that due to bugs became a highly accurate machine gun.

Well here’s the thing, according to the Enclave, Horrigan is the first instance of FEV doing what the US military wanted it to do, which was create super soldiers. Horrigan was the first, and last proper super soldier created by FEV, while all the others had turned into super mutants, with varying results as to intellectual capability.

@@I-AM-EL-ZOZO Technically, yes. However Horrigan got really lucky, as he had all of the right genes to become a proper super soldier, rather than a super mutant like everyone else. Most super mutants either have some sort of deformity, usually in the face, or extremely stunted intelligence, and even the behemoths have some sort of deformity, seen in the East Coast behemoths that have deformed torsos and an underdeveloped arm, or the west coast behemoths that have basically lost all higher thought processes in exchange for overwhelming physical strength. Horrigan on the other hand has increased physical strength, enhanced durability, enhanced stamina, increased intelligence, as well as growing in size. And unlike a lot of the super mutants we see, which either have green skin or a sort of pale reddish brown skin, Horrigan has a sort of pale dark grey skin instead, which means he’s likely the only known individual that the FEV has turned into a super soldier, which was why the Enclave was so invested in his continued existence, asides from him basically leading the entire faction because, well let’s face it, their then president was an idiot who was clearly just meant to be a figurehead.

Eh, realistically Frank wouldn't stand a chance against someone like Chosen One. You say "plot armor" i say "combat experience" considering we only ever see Frank slaughtering non combatants. Who in the game does Frank kill thats even remotely comparable to us? Aka, a decent fighter and not a bunch of vault dwellers? Both power armor and super mutant skin are susceptible to armor penatrating rounds, so if anything it's Frank with the plot armor with how wanked he gets lol

Yeah, they are a bit above 6 meters tall (6.5m or 20 feet). Although they are that big by mistake. Because if we see the karts and hydrants they use, the proportions are exaggerated. If we tone them down to have the proportions of the karts and hydras on a normal size, they'd still be 5 meters tall (15 feet). So 3 feet bigger than Horrigan.

Frank Horrigan is what would happen if you dipped, say, Legate Lanius in FEV.

Aint luck if he literally outplayed him in every turn. You can also beat frank with your bare fists, people only assume its with the utmost difficulty because they want a cool enclave character to wank. Everything he does in game isn't impressive. He's physically very powerful, able to rip apart deathclaws with his bare hands. However that deathclaw wasn't fighting back, and we only ever see Frank slaughtering non combatants like Vault Dwellers. At that point in the story, the Chosen One would easily be more experienced in survival and combat training. Even if Frank has the technological edge (which he doesn't if he can't even activate the base's turrets to help him) not once has he ever fought someone even comparable to the Chosen One.

El Gigante is significantly larger than Frank and more comparable to an actual Super Mutant Behemoth, which Frank is not. He's an exceptionally large super mutant, but he isn't a Super Mutant Behemoth, who suffer from unbalanced body proportions and mental degeneration.

I mean I don't care how big you are a missile launcher is a missile launcher and the chosen one is no slouch at the end of the game so it was a 10 v 1 best possible scenario with some of the best weapons in the game and you don't technically actually kill frank horgan you just disable his life support which causes his body to slowly rip itself apart so I see it being possible to win just very unlikely

Lmao power armor isn't indestructible. Most actually break under heavy munitions fire, and the skin of a super mutant isn't bullet proof. Feels like you're heavily downplaying every fallout character while propping up Frank for some weird reason. Horrigan spends the game killing people who don't fight back. He killed that vault of deathclaws because they were nonviolent and explicitly disobeyed the Enclave's wishes. The chosen one by the time he's reached the Oil Rig has traversed and conquered the wastes with his own skills. You could argue that he cheated with the turrets, but if Frank had ten intelligence why didn't he just activate them? Frank is probably the most wanked dude in the entire series, and that has to be because of "BIG POWER ARMOR MUTANT WIT GUN GO BRRRRR" but honestly I find characters like Ulysses, Father Elijah, the Think Tank, and even Lanius all more imposing and deadly than Frank. Dude has the military backing him and still fails to take out a tribal who's not even been alive as long as Frank. The Think Tank aren't fighters but have technology that can reshape the entire wasteland without them even considering the damage. Big brutes with guns are scary, but at the end of the day it isnt "plot armor" when we show up more experienced with a team of allies and shit tons of equally advanced guns. People act like the Chosen One would just hurl spears at Frank and not blow his exposed joints off with a 50. Cal (which canonically peels open power armor like a shredder)

How does a meere army vet defeat a cybernetically enhanced mercenary withover 100+ years of experience, and an android that was built to hunt and destroy/retrieve other androids, which are alred superior than normal humans? Plot armor. They are the MC, and tht is the only rrason they won. Yes, you are right, Frank Horrigan is the way he is due to plot convinience as well. But he isnt an MC now is he? He doesnt have THE plot armor the MCs have. Plot dictated he was smarter, taer and tougher than normal super mutants, and then the enclave enhanced him cybernetically, and cladded him in advanced power armor, the same way the plot dictated that Ulysses be the lone survivor of his tribe and can defeat marked men with ease. That being said, logically, using feats and scaling, Horrigan squashes effortlessly.

No power armor is immune to heavy munitions. The main perk of power armor was that it allowed soldiers to use heavy guns while shrugging off small arms fire. Frank isn't an indestructible terminator. Behemoths can be blown up like any other mutant, and frankly I'd say the Chosen One actually has more combat experience than Frank, who we only see killing peaceful inhabitants of vaults.

The OG devs even said he's really only killed due to the plot. Now sure, could the chosen one pull some squad of vertibirds raining missiles on him for hours? Yeah, and that would eventually drop his ass. But homie, he's genuinely the single most powerful living thing in the fallout universe. Imagine for a moment that his fusion core was covered with a layer of armor itself. Chosen one and sigma squad wouldn't have had enough time to wail on him before he got annoyed, and punched a hole through their chests.

Frank is one of very few characters to have 10 in all SPECIAL categories, which contradicts the canon of Frank having low intelligence.
