I had to look twice as the cover art has changed for this one. A new Holmes silhouette profile in exchange for the hand & pipe. I like both 😊 I do wish they were numbered it would be so useful to keep up with them as they are released. Again most appreciated, looking forward to starting the week with a new adventure. Y’all are the BEST!

3:15 Holmes never betrays a confidence. Watson, however, discloses everything in The Strand, and it's the funniest part of every Holmes story that the clients still believe their secrets will be different.

I’m going to guess and bet that somehow, she didn’t actually kill someone. My favorite Doyle are his historical writings- just breathtaking story craft analysis of the past and exposition.

Have you heard BITESIZED AUDIO’s KZfaq Channel’s reading of the original Doyle’s Historic writings? If you have not heard them, I’d say it is more than worth it to check out his earliest uploaded catalog (there’s over 100 ghost & Doyle’s on there to date, so reach back or go to a PLAYLIST CATALOG) It’s well worth the trouble…for me, my love of his reading comes from the TIMING! The stories here have a little bit of the Sherlockean Theme Timing, but these ACD’s are like Jacques Cousteau travels back in time to narrate the soul of each of the stories…and Simon Standhope’s channel helped get me through a lot of rough > times. I hope it is respectful to commend another channel in the comments of another, but I saw your post & it really resonated with me. Cheers! 🍹🍸🥃🍶🍺🍷📚📖📰🪄🪭🪅🎉

Isn't the name of the General a bit of a clue as to his loyalty? Only names like: General Sauerkraut, Colonel Bratwurst and Admiral Donnerundblitzen are a bit more obvious... And the man-servant Rumplechüch is also kinda conspicuous.

Hum. Should this not have a part two entitled: VINDICATED?😊

I am a fan of Sherlock Holmes, and very much enjoy new stories by various authors. However, If you are looking for good Sherlock Holmes stories, I cannot recommend either this particular one, or this site. For some reason, the writer of this story, and others posted here, like to see the title character, Sherlock Holmes, defeated, belittled and humiliated. It is a common theme throughout most of the stories posted here. I was thoroughly taken with the telling of this story until the ending. Holmes worked for his King in good faith and in return is used, ridiculed and laughed at. I don't find that funny or entertaining. In the context of the story, both the officials and the lady, have made a serious enemy. While I could understand the pompous officials thinking themselves untouchable, I would think that the lady, not being from an aristocratic background, would be more familiar with the kind of damage that someone like Holmes could do. Like publicly exposing every skeleton in their closets. Or making sure their political rivals were informed. Damaging rumors spread where they will do the most good. Smart politicians are by their very nature manipulative, and they know when and who to NOT make an enemy of. While I can certainly see them using Holmes for their purposes, I cannot see them taking such pleasure humiliating him. Why would they do that? Just to be nasty? I seriously dislike stories where the writers deliberately bring the title character low in some misguided attempt to be entertaining. When Conan Doyle had Holmes defeated, he wrote it with wit and grace, not denigrating either of his heroes. I wish other writers would show similar grace.

I'd say what has been done is the classic story arc of the 'hero's journey' as identified by Joseph Campbell (hero falls into the depths of tragedy and despair, then fights back to victory). Think "The Wizzard of Oz", "To Kill A Mockingbird", "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn", just to name a few classics that use this same story arc.

I’m sorry you don’t enjoy this; it’s rather, funny/odd, but I find this actually part of the respect of the author for Sir Arthur Cohan Doyle, by “allowing” that he respects the original, he takes his homage with an air of mockingly jest-able (think his use of spread out literary puns) places, because being Sherlock can not be completely redone in a time where grace was eloquently all through the ink of the pen, & it is the strength of Doyle’s character to handle more Modern type of “wit”…I’m sorry this leaves you “wet” but I kinda like that feeling myself.🤡💩😂🥳 -just a random female listener🪭😎 P.S. I TOTALLY BELIEVE IN ART MIMICKING OTHER ARTIST’s WORK. I believe it’s MOST OFTEN FOUND FROM AFFECTION- otherwise, it’s quite a LARGE amount of time & energy for to forward MOMENTUM that already exists in it’s OWN PERFECTION- I think you’d have to be pretty daft to be that kind of PUNK! But, hey, maybe it’s just NOT YOUR CUP OF TEA 🧐🫖☕️… but it’s other people’s 🥛&🍯.

Not a bad story, but I agree with the comment regarding the belittling of Holmes. However, my main complaint is the use of phrases unlikely to be used in England at this time. To measure distances in terms of ‘blocks’ is quite wrong, as is ‘fixing’ one’s hair. Shame about the lack of attention to detail.

I think people should write something new instead of trying to cash in on someone else's great works. This is like expecting Tolkien's brilliance but getting Amazon Prime's LotR manure.
