Boubacar Gadiaga is determined to earn enough to educate his children, so he embarks on an arduous journey to seek work as an artisanal gold miner.
In The Adventures of Boubacar, filmmaker Ousmane Zoromé Samassékou closely follows Boubacar’s pursuits as he learns about this dangerous and life-threatening business from a small community of miners. This film takes a deep and unflinching look into their lives as Boubacar navigates his new work with the hope of supporting his family.
Ousmane Zoromé Samassékou is a multi-award-winning producer and director based in Mali. His feature documentary, The Last Shelter, won Grand Prize at CPH DOX in 2021 and has screened globally to great acclaim. He has produced several films for Africa Direct.

How come Africa, just don't cut the middle man out, sell products by ton, cobalt by the ton on world market goes for about 70t. DRC supply's three fourths of the world's cobalt, they are in control, not the US, UK, Germany, France, Bolivia, UN. Make more profit for the people, the government insure's health and safety for all adult workers, make a profit, build and get the children an education. Build your dream!

Check this out... I'm a westerner who has water piped to his house... gas is piped to my house, heats my house and boils that water almost instantly at the click of a button... There are other buttons I can click and almost instantly people will bring me anything I desire to my front door... Cold drinks in the fridge, ice in the freezer... Free medical treatment! Free museums! free Libraries! full of books and free computers to use... AND IM F UCKING MISERABLE...
