Thank you all for your overwhelmingly positive response to this release and the trailer, I can't believe we managed to pass 1 million views! This trailer was largely a solo effort from our project lead, so it's been really wonderful seeing it hit such a wide audience. But really this trailer represents thousands of hours of hard work by the various talented people on our team, so it really feels like the work we've put in has paid off finally! We hope everyone takes some time to play the mod and get your nostalgia fix! And hopefully we'll see you soon with more news about the future of this project. If you're enjoying the recent Aether release, please consider pledging a few dollars a month to our Patreon to help keep further development running. Our team is primarily made up of volunteers who work for very little pay, so any money you put towards the project goes directly towards the people making these mods! Aether is not just a Minecraft mod, it is THE Minecraft mod. It may not the biggest, or the most mechanically interesting, but everything is it does is executed in a way that perfectly fits into the style of minecraft while still retaining its own identity. It is a true masterpiece of a mod. I personally thank everyone who has worked on it all these years. I wish you luck in whatever tour future endeavors may be.

I think it's also partly from it being one of the much earlier mods. The mod kind of conflicts with the End Dimension, but more because the End feels like a rip off of Aether. When they added it, it fit so perfectly as the second dimension. "that perfectly fits into the style of minecraft" Feels like it should be in the game, which I think is why the meme of trying to make an Aether portal in vanilla is perfect.

The classic aether is probably the most influential mod that has been made, inspired a lot of things to be made not just in the modding community but minecraft aswell.

That's a really hard title to claim any one mod can have, it really depends on what area of Minecraft you're talking about. I would say the most influential (unless you count forge itself) are item loaders like Too Many Items and Not Enough Items, because they not only were hugely influential in the modding scene and how mods were made, but TMI particularly pushed Notch towards creative mode because of how popular it was, which massively changed what minecraft was as a game. Likewise, WorldEdit and the various command mods/plugins also had a big early influence on the introduction of commands into the game. Aether had a huge influence on the alternate dimension/areas scene for sure, but I'd argue Twilight Forest had a similar level of impact as well. MoCreatures, MoCreeps and Weirdos, and later Orespawn set the standard for added mobs. Millenaire gave rise to Villagers as well as other mods like Minecolonies. Mr Crayfish's furniture mod and Bibliocraft were also very instrumental in decoration blocks. Then there's plenty of industrial mods that have had big impacts, notably industrialcraft, and the FTB and Tekkit modpacks themselves. But even Create can possibly hold the title as currently most influential, not just because of the sheer quantity of mods and modpacks that are directly linked to it, but due to the recent surge in interest in "vanilla+" mods largely brought on by its very vanilla style.

I’m glad that despite the editing software and technology we have now, you went for something simple and not too flashy for the trailer, reminiscent of old Minecraft. It remind me of the 2011 Minecraft trailer. Excellent work.

It's actually what's making me a bit disappointed, I expected it to be a bit more _updated_ , it looks exactly the same as in the old days. I'm very glad to be able to play with this mod again but I wish there was a bit more upgrade, thos it might come later

I listen to the entire soundtrack regularly. Emile van Krieken amazes me to this day. Love that all songs are available for free on his bandcamp! He moved on and works in AI now but if you ever see this, thanks for creating these wonderful pieces of art!

fr, minecraft needs just 1 more dimension and the aether feels so on theme to be that dimension. we got hell, normal world, "aether" like the skies and heaven, and then the end which is space.

I remember being 9 years old and always watching Aether mod showcases. I didn’t know how to install mods back then so I’d just daydream about the mod, I even dreamt about it in my sleep at one point! I’m 20 now, and by then I’ve played many times, but seeing “Official Trailer” right now, it feels right. I don’t really know how to put it into words. It’s just really special. @@rps9339Aether II was home to a bunch of crazy and awful design experiments that never should have made it into the mod. We will not be carrying them over to Aether II in the future and I was always against their inclusion. I think Aether II should have a different portal than Aether 1 so simple compatibility is possible but the changes our team made to it were far too drastic and needlessly hostile to people's expectations for the mod. We won't be repeating those mistakes

Loved Seeing @Shalz and Many other Minecraft KZfaq Content Creators checking out some of the Features of The Aether Mod as well, in Shalz case, Compatability with other mods like The Create Mod. One Feature that I think would be pretty Interesting with Mods that have their own Portals would be the Use of the Portal Mechanics like with the Nether Portals. You can Build them however large or small as you want just as long as there's at least a 1 by 1 Gap or no more than a 25 by 25 Block Gap. Imagine getting Chased to the Aether by Nether Mobs like Wither Skeletons, Zombie Piglins, Zombie Hoglins or even Gasts LMAO!

I've never even played this mod when it originally released, but I still got hit with waves of nostalgia seeing this mod again. I remember when Yogscast covered this back in the day and it looks so magical. Everything featured in this trailer still holds up from what I saw on those videos so long ago. I'll definitely give it a try!

I remember watching Tobuscus play Minecraft with this Mod over 10 years ago as a kid....I even tried making the Aether portal myself on my cracked Minecraft playing on my crappy old laptop....I remember crying when I put the water bucket and the portal didn't appear......Good times, good memories...I cherish those memories...Thank You Aether Team for everything and thank You for making one of the best and iconic Minecraft mods of ALL times

I feel like the aether should the the complete end game and final destination, so that once you’ve freed the end and done all there is to be done, you can just live in peace in the aether, in solitude and pleasure with nothing to worry about.

It's the hostile paradise, it only looks peaceful. Nevertheless it really should be a vanilla dimension. The End, even with the cities, is a poor excuse of a dimension compared to the mod that precedes it.

even as someone who is only able to play bedrock edition (for now), this makes me so happy. this brings back that nostalgia of watching my favorite youtubers when i was a kid and in sheer awe of how cool it was. i remember the bitter disappointment that i had when trying to make the portal in bedrock resulted in a watery glowstone mess. i am glad that when i can get java/ when i see more of my current favorites play this mod, i can be transported back to that kid who had their jaw dropped, eyes glazed over, and a hunger to learn and watch all about a dimension that seemed so close, yet so far away from my reach- the aether. thank you.

Playing the Aether in beta 1.7 and Twilight Forest in release 1.7.10 was so fun. I just wish the Twilight Forest ever got finished when I played but I know it was just one guy working on it.

The Aether is probably the most recognizable mod in Minecraft for me. Has been around for a long ass time and it just feels like something that would truly fit into base game minecraft.

Daaamn the times i'd do a glowstone portal, put water in it and nothing would happen becaude i didn't know how to install a mod back then haha. Now i'm studying in dev engineering and i can roughly understand how much work you possibly have put into this and it's awesome ! Now i need to play this mod :D

im glad the original aether still gets updated to modern versions of minecraft. realistically its pretty oldschool and feels so when comparing it to the nether and overworld of modern versions but that doesnt make it less great. my heart lies with genesis of the void; its a shame that it was abandoned; but at least the original remains updated even if its missing some of the things i loved about genesis of the void (gosh i wish purple and green aercloud was in the original)

the music is what makes this mod in my opinion, much like Minecraft, the base is amazing, but the music takes it to another level, and suits the mod so wonderfully. It's awesome seeing the Aether perfectly preserved like a time capsule over all these years, as much as like love to see all mods get the same treatment, Mo Creatures, Mo Creeps, and a lot of early minecraft mods, it's a lot of work to preserve just one, and I'm happy the Aether is still here. Keep up the good work! Oh, and are there any plans to implement the unfinished Platinum Whale dungeon from the original mod?

There is something charming about old Minecraft mods that you don't find today. Aether, TropicCraft, Mo Creatures, Tinkers, etc. Also old packs like Tekkit as well.

Aether has a lot of mod and datapack support now!! There are the mods Aether: Lost Content Aether Redux Ancient Aether Deep Aether and more, all of which add even more content to the dimmension. The Platinum Whale dungeon appears in Lost Content, along with orange and brown Moas! I really love Deep Aether because of how it adds Yagroot Trees and stuff. I'm playing with these mods now on 1.20.1! It's super easy with Modrinth Launcher!

I cannot even begin to express the sense of nostalgia I feel when seeing this trailer. I haven't really followed the Aether mod since watching The Yogscast play it all the way back in 2011. This mod is genuinely so iconic that even all these years later, I still remember the exact look and feel of the whole thing. Thank you so much for bringing it to modern versions of Minecraft.

When he entered the portal and we got that first view, my heart fucking ached. I missed those days. Binge watching Tobuscus’s Let’s Plays late at night before school, back when KZfaq drama was limited to simple squabbles. I’m glad to see this mod return, feels like that excitement and curiosity I had as a kid returned for a moment.

I remember back in the day, I spent months trying to figure out how to create the Glowstone water portal. I even brought my laptop to a friends house because I couldn’t seem to figure out how to create this portal, and he claimed to be a Minecraft genius, but he had no clue what I was talking about. I remember when I finally managed to install the Aether II Mod. I played it for months, it’s all I talked about. I’m so glad that this trailer popped up in my recommended, but the nostalgia is so painful. Thank you for the memories, Aether Team.
