This sort of music seems to have that effect on lots of people (including me) - a sort of pleasurable melancholy or yearning for something you can't quite reach or define. Apparently, there's a Welsh word for that - hiraeth.

@@athila2942 | southern ca local shit. I’ve worked w/ them, for their OG video of where the moonlight bled ; they didn’t pay the videographer (a personal friend) & that was disrespectful. Upon messaging the vocalist he was defensive & rude as fucc along with their old drummer. Kunu was the homie fr but, he fell off asf too.

I think it's interesting to see how noticeable it is that these are newer acts - lots of elements from the current mainstream; the autotune, the rap-inspired vocal melodies & cadences, the cursive singing... it's very much emulating an aesthetic without the substance. Not that it's necessarily bad, just... being real.
