We’re joining Mat Manning for a session on a squirrel-infested woodland permission this week. With so many bushy-tails in the woods, Mat takes full advantage of the opportunity to try to experiment with feeding station baits by giving them a choice between peanuts and black sunflower seeds. The session also proves to be a very successful inaugural hunting trip for the compact new BSA Ultra CLX, which gives a great account of itself in the hide.
Zeiss scopes haven’t always been associated with airgun shooting but their new Conquest V4 range of optics zero right down to 10 yards, making them perfect for the job. Mat has been putting one of these awesome high-performance telescopic sights through its paces on the range and in the field and shares his thoughts on it in this week’s show.

You should try peanuts in their shells, shelling them is therapeutic for the squirrels and it takes them longer to empty the feeder. Also its mainly the squirrels that can take them.

Just one concerning question, the bottle clamp on the FX mk2 !!! I asked the question if it was safe to fit a Dr Bob's clamp to a carbon bottle, and the overwhelming answer was NO!!! Have you been given the evidence by any manufacturer, that it is safe, and wise to do so ??? I'm sure that I'm not alone in thinking this too. Still a great informative video as usual Matt, keep up the exceptional work.

As usual another great video. Question- if you’re zeroed at 30 then wouldn’t the pellet still be raising to the crosshairs and as such wouldn’t you be holding OVER? Unless of course you’re at the second zero and catching the pellet after the top of the arc and zeroed on it’s way back down... just wondering. Thanks! Again another great job by Mat. Big fan👍🏽
@dawiddadun3044
@dawiddadun3044 3 жыл бұрын
At sub 12ftlbs a 30 yrd zero would be on the secondary zero...the first zero would be around 12ish yrds. So at 20 metres (22yrds) the pellet will strike a tad high.

What Peter says is very true. Peanuts do differ in their attractiveness and I've had good and not-so-good batches. I tend to use whole yellow maize now, not least because you can tell if a squirrel's been at it by the way they just take out the germ and leave the rest.

How much difference does it make, though? Do you miss 1%, 10% or 50% of targets if you use a ‘lesser’ scope? Buy one by all means if it’s not going to dent your wallet but ask yourself if you are going to be a better shooter or a better influencer…
