THE ALAN PARSONS SYMPHONIC PROJECT “LIVE IN COLOMBIA” - AVAILABLE AS DVD, BLU-RAY, 2-CD DIGIPAK, 3 VINYL GATEFOLD AND DIGITAL
On the evening of August 31st, 2013, a large crowd gathered at Parque Pies Descalzos in Medellín, Colombia. When Alan Parsons appeared on stage, along with the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra and his band the audience went wild. This is an audio visual document of that incredible evening.
THE ALAN PARSONS SYMPHONIC PROJECT “Live in Colombia” is available now on earMUSIC as DVD, Blu-ray, 2-CD digipak, 3 x Vinyl, and download.
Alan Parsons was 19 years old when he landed a job at the world famous Abbey Road Studios, an important first step on his journey to becoming a world class engineer, producer and artist. Following his beginnings with George Martin and The Beatles, his contribution to Pink Floyd’s classic ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ earned him worldwide attention. As a producer he had many hits with Pilot, John Miles, Ambrosia and Al Stewart. Together with his manager and creative partner at the time, Eric Woolfson, he developed the Alan Parsons Project.
Following their debut album “Tales Of Mystery And Imagination“ (1976), they released a series of hit albums; namely “I Robot” (1977), “Pyramid” (1978), “The Turn of a Friendly Card” (1980), “Eye in the Sky” (1982), “Ammonia Avenue” (1984), “Vulture Culture” (1985), “Stereotomy” (1986) and “Gaudi” (1987).
Then Parsons and Woolfson called it a day, but Parsons had ambitions to perform the amazing music live. Now to the great delight of his fans, for the first time on a live video and audio recording, THE ALAN PARSONS SYMPHONIC PROJECT combines the talents of his amazing band with the lush sound of a 70-piece symphony orchestra, creating a very special show with unmatched quality. Together, they revitalize hits such as “Eye In The Sky“, “Don’t Answer Me“ and “Sirius“.
The lineup consists of Alan Parsons on acoustic guitar, keys, and vocals, P.J. Olsson (lead vocals), Alastair Greene (guitar, vocals), Guy Erez (bass, vocals), Danny Thompson (drums, vocals), Tom Brooks (keyboards, vocals) und Todd Cooper (saxophone, guitar, percussion, vocals). Alejandro Posada conducts the Medellin Philharmonic Orchestra

I Robot has a very special meaning to me. I was conscripted into the South African army as a teenager and sent into a war zone. One of the guys in my tent had I Robot on cassette, which he would play every morning to wake us up. The 'unearthly' sound made me forget where I was for a while. Sheer bliss.

We used to blast this driving down The foggy back roads At 4am on cold Australian winter nights! Considering that Alan was the reason behind the sound of Pink Floyd and soo many others as an engineer ; I doubt they get anything but praised when working with the greatness that is Alan Parsons.

@@s.thomasfife1836 I concur. Alan Parsons has had a brilliant and successful career as sound engineer and producer. My early years as a fan, I was amazed with his work on not only Floyd but also the Hollies Air That I Breathe and Al Stewart's Year Of The Cat. Good move on Parsons' part to use Allan Clarke of the Hollies to do lead vocals on 1977 Breakdown from I Robot. Parsons has had the Midas touch. Definitely any engineer who has worked with him has been very fortunate and appreciated.

I was still in grade school in the 70s, but I had a 7-year older brother who was into good music, so I was too, with Pink Floyd being one of my favorites. I saw Dark Side of the Moon as a masterpiece (well, it is!). When I first heard Alan Parsons, between his sound, concept albums, some of his themes, and some of his song titles, I pegged him to be a Floyd rip-off, lol... so I didn't want to like his music, but I really, really did! Eventually I learned about him being the sound engineer on Dark Side and the huge impact he had on the sound of that album. That made me so happy, because now I could enjoy The Alan Parsons Project without guilt or shame! I loved (and still do love!) the albums Tales of Mystery and Imagination, I Robot, and Turn of a Friendly Card. Hearing this video brings it all back... and the music makes me move! I'm gonna hafta buy this release....... :)

Then I moved to Panama in the 2000s and saw the band in concert there. I even got to meet and talk to Alan Parsons himself... He was very approachable and down to earth... What a treat...

A partner and I were ran portable DJ systems while at Uni in the 1970s. We always had a special track we played to tune the system to the room. One night, I was the one who went to the rear of the room to listen to the system. My partner put I Robot on. It was the first time I'd ever heard it. I asked who this was, and the next day I was at the record store buying my copy. I've NEVER gotten tired of that album. Amazing work of musicianship.❤❤❤❤

I still have this 8 track tape of this album, even though it's quality has been horrible for a few decades. This played in my truck over and over, very loud and proud. Still one of the best albums ever.

I drove a semi back in the days of cabovers . When driving about 68 - 70 mph , the rhythm of this song along with a concrete interstate highway , the cab and music would sync up ! I loved it !

A old friend of mine had Parsons "I Robot" playing at his guard house at his job 45 years ago and this song has been stuck in my head since then as well as the whole album. He got me into listening to the Parsons Project to this day. Do have the vinyl version of this plus other Project albums.

Try unplugging the centre channel of your surround system - I believe Alan Parsons mixes a 5.1 system at 4.1 creating a phantom centre channel from the bleeding of the front left and front right speakers. This will answer the critics who say the stereotype mix sounds better.

I consider myself one of the lucky ones, having a dad who was (a fellow musician in his early days) into all styles of music. I still fondly recall being 'awoken' at 8am on a Sunday morning with blaring music playing, whether it was Alan Parsons, Black Sabbath, Rick Wakefield, Pink Floyd or many others. At the time, I guess I was annoyed having my sleep disturbed as a 10 year old, however, that said, I reckon I had the coolest dad around who was into music before the likes of 'Countdown' in Australia looked at it, ie my dad listened to EVERYTHING, and liked what he liked, such as Judy Tzuke, whose album I believe he bought BEFORE it became popular, and whose songs I still enjoy today. But I have always been blessed with a 'decent' taste in music. I guess I could have made a decent musician, had I the fortitude to learn. Unfortunately for me, it has remained in my mind, but has not been expressed, very much the same as a lot of other factors in my life.

First head this on my brother's (God rest his soul) Kenwood receiver with BIC Ventura speakers when I was 17. It blew my mind and caused me to turn into an audiophile and speaker builder. I still listen to the digital master of the 33LP. Parsons songs were always amazingly composed.

Shout out to Alan Parsons Project. It was just two days after the Pulse shooting in Orlando when I witnessed something incredible. It was them playing outside behind a bar in the parking lot facing a public street. Apparently the owner of this bar had ties to them and they must have dropped whatever they were doing that day to show up in Orlando as a tribute for Pulse. There was no fanfare and maybe fewer than 300 people even knew they were ever there. I was pinching myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Coincidently coming across one of my favorite bands of the 70's just a few feet away and in front of a handful of people! It was uplifting indeed. What a very special thing they did that day, trying to do their part for a town that was in shock.
