@@muhtasimshahriyar8351 Listen, I also hold that their modern work doesn’t hold a candle to the Portnoy era, but you can take your negativity and dump it somewhere else. Dream Theater has always been made up of some of the most technically impressive musicians in the history of our world, and it’s about damn time they’re recognized for it. They were nominated for and won “Best Metal Performance,” not “Least Boring Song.” Even if you didn’t like it, it’s impressive as all hell.

I think Gojira came out with the better album last year. When you first heard the singles, it was like "WOW". They nailed it. Dream Theater also made a good album, but they are probably more palatable in the Grammys universe. Not saying they are sellouts - they spent the first 10 years fighting record companies and eventually got enough momentum to tell the record companies to stop telling them what music to make. Dream Theater were a prog metal band that started just as the of the Grunge movement took off. The arena rock formula with a big "look at me" guitar solos was dying off. They succeeded because they were good.

Cream rises to the top. DT have produced an incredible body of work and have always had a unique sound. They battled the press and the record companies and remained loyal to their musical principles. The reason the audience is so quiet is because DT is above their paygrade and requires musical intelligence unlike the usual sonic pulp they understand that consists of 3 chords and 17 songwriters. I have followed DT since the very early days and it is satisfying watching them form into a legend. Well deserved and a long time coming.

The fact that he seems to be on the verge of shedding a tear makes this even more special to me. „Dream Theater“ is my favorite band since 2008 and the members of the band, past and current, feel so much like family to me, even though I only met the whole band once (John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess twice). I am simply happy and full of joy for them. Congratulations!

Metal has & will always have 100 times the talent than any other form of music aside from jazz/ funk & classical

It is about time they got a Grammy!! The Alien is a pretty awesome song, and you have to be a world class musician to play it whether it’s the guitar, bass, keyboard, or drums. Finally a band that has practiced a lot, and I really mean A LOT, wins a Grammy!!
