I just started singing this song today out of nowhere and I was like oh! I haven’t heard that song in ages what are the lyrics anyway and came over to watch the video. Now I’m sobbing because life has been life-ing on hard mode lately and I’ve just been holding it all in. This was just the reminder i needed that I have a community of family and friends around me so I don’t have to shoulder life’s weights on my own and that even if I fall there are people there that will catch me. Cry when you need to, feel the pain, pause if necessary, watch a few k-dramas at 3:00 am and mourn the loss of what could have been, but please don't stay there. One second at a time, one minute at a time, one day at a time. It does get better. I am so glad I didn't give in to the desire to die. It may take a few years, but please hang in there. Reminds me of that numb kinda feeling where you’re barely conscious, stuck in that mechanical state and trying to crawl towards the next day as silently and quickly as possible. Going through the day just to get it over with. That feeling where you’re entire self is so opaque that you exist more than you live.

I listened to this literally non-stop as a child

2005 - I was married with two kids under 5, working borderline poverty at a job paying only $32k, it was pure anxiety making rent and depending on food stamps. I was in a dark place. 2024 - Still marred, both kids in college. working my dream jobs making 7x what I made in 2005. It was f'n hard work, a lot, lot of sacrifice, but I moved along for my family.
