I've drove the 2.7L HO 4C in a silverado not impressed at highway speeds, the MPG sure but the band. Time will tell if that Engine allow these to stand out. No more V6/Diesel.... I love my 21 zr2.

I agree with Michael. These trucks need the 6 cylinder. And it is a shame they got rid of the diesel version. It sucks they are going smaller and smaller in terms of engine size on trucks nowadays. I feel like a 4 cylinder in a truck is just not reliable or beefy enough. The old 4 cylinder engines they had in the 04-12 models had a lot of issues.

The ZR2s are super nice straight out of the gate, but if you're open to modding your truck, it may be worth it to save by getting a Z71 and just adding what you'd want/need.

Where did you see/hear 3 inch more rear legroom? I’ve been hearing the rear legroom actually lost an inch.

Toyota needs to hire some of GM’s designers.

Not on the base engine. It lacks oil squinters in the head, has a less powerful radiator, a different intake and other differences per Chevrolet. The other two engines share the same part number, and share it with the silverado 2.7. So more then likely this engine will be a little better at tuning long term because of the increased bottom end strength. But what ever people have tuned the Silverado to is likely the limits of this engine for now.

I would suspect though the base engine has a lot that can be tuned into it. It makes way less the most 2.0T engines which was a head scratcher to me as GM has a 2.0LT engine that makes the exact same numbers in multiple applications, and it would be all around more efficient in most use cases for people and fleet vehicles. I'm guessing that you can easily get another 40 HP and 50 Lbsft of torque out of it at a minimum reliably. ( about 277 HP and 309 lbs ft)

Yes I know what you mean here. 2018 chev Colorado crew cab long box Z71 2.8 diesel here. It is an amazing engine ad for highway runs I get about 34mpg here. Just over 80k here and no issue just oil and fuel. The new ones lol nice I will have to wait to see the new onesin person
