Grim times for the nation as we mourn the loss of General Bipin Rawat and the other 12 very dependable army officers in the recent fatal helicopter crash. Major General G.D. Bakshi & I got a chance to discuss the details of the crash and salute the courage shown by Chief - Gen. Bipin Rawat all through the years of serving in the Indian army.
Our guest today, Major General G. D. Bakshi, is a retired Indian Army officer. He served in Jammu & Kashmir Rifles. He subsequently commanded the Romeo Force (Part of elite Rashtriya Rifles) during intensive counter-insurgency operations in the Rajouri-Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir and succeeded in suppressing the armed militancy in this area. He served in the Army from 1971 - 2008. He has been awarded several medals for his distinguished service in the Indian Army.
Author of several well-researched books on military strategy, he is best known for his forceful articulation of the national interest on prime time news on several channels. His new book "The Quantum Book of Soma: Reinterpreting the Wisdom of the Vedas" has been appreciated immensely and includes over 50 years of research and insight.
As a podcast host, I feel it is necessary to bring out the stories of the army. Personally, for me, it is an absolute pleasure to host and learn from the people in the defense forces. Keep expecting even more powerful army stories on the show going forward. Jai Hind 🇮🇳

My father served under him in RR in Kashmir. And my father always narrates me about incidents of counter insurgency operations. When Gen. GD Bakshi was on site along with the QRT, very few Maj. generals would be on site of counter insurgency operation along with his junior officers and jawans. But he used to be there. This fills the Junior officers and jawans with a different pride.

We shouldn’t forget Sam Manekshaw when we talk about 1971, he is the most underrated general in the history of world just too good in terms of military strategy and leadership. He could see through the enemy at so many level it’s unbelievable. It’s sad he is never discussed in the worlds greatest generals in the world he’s easily next to napoleon or Julius ceaser.

The concluding statement by Ranveer was on point. The opinions and perspectives of the armed forces need to be given utmost priority, especially when the General himself opens puts it out that national security today is at its toughest. If that means a big bulk of focus and money goes to equipping the defence, it's obvious that other aspects within the country will be given lesser importance, and we have to deal with that as responsible citizens. And not constantly criticize as to why everything around us is not as good as it can be.

Maj Gen (R) G.D. Bakshi is a living legend. It gives me chills down the spine knowing that it was his first day in the service and he was already in a war. Many of the brave young officers got pensions even before getting their salaries🥺🥺🥺

Sir words were to the point, he has immense knowledge to share. And the facts he told about crash including IFR and VFR and the sudden appearance of clouds in hilly areas is absolutely correct. I doubt now what measures will army take on this while carrying VVIP, maybe take a longer route avoiding mountains.

Lieutenant general dr madhuri kanitkar. She is the Dean of the only armed forces college of medical sciences in Pune. Recently honoured by the President of our country. She is one of the eldest and honoured ladies of our country inspiring the youths especially in the medical as well as armed forces fields... It will be a legitimate privileged to have her on your podcast. Kindly look into it and make this happen

Additionally, would like to make a humble request that you should invite Mr. Anuj Dhar and Mr. Chandrachur Ghose for the podcast they both have an excellent information regarding the death of our great leader and our hero Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and also for our former great Prime Minister Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri. I do believe it will be great and deep podcast. Thanks and keep doing the good work Ranveer.
