Why are they acting like Lewandowski wasn't an elite level striker, who should've won a Balon d'Or in 2020 and 2021, while he was at Bayern? He was such a powerhouse striker, who kept Bayern afloat many a times throughout his time there. I'd argue that Lewa is a better striker than Raul, and is debatable with Gerd Muller. I also would take Lewa over Di Stefano, but that's sheerly down to the fact that I never watched the man play.

Absolute disgrace that Casillas got picked a few times over Neuer who is clearly the best goalkeeper ever. He was absolutely incredible in his prime. I was quite suprised that nobody mentioned Rummenigge and Schweinteiger. Rummenigge was a Top 5 Attacker at his time, had blistering pace, a great shot and good dribbling and was kind of a predecessor to the CR7 player type. Schweinsteiger on the other hand was named the hardest midfield opponent they've ever faced by Xavi and Iniesta due to his combination of ball playing skills, physicality and defensive capabalities. Since the 2010 WC, he was a Top 3 midfielder. He brought Bayern into the 2012 Final, played incredible in the 2013 Wembley campaign and lead Germany to the WC one year later. He always delivered against the toughest opponents.

I do like the Makélélé nod but he - like Fenômeno - is more suited for a club “best XI” as opposed to “greatest XI” because they didn’t leave a historically meaningful imprint at the club whether by impact or duration.
