Beautiful. Seems like you didn't get out of Pendleton County! The are over 930,000 acres to the Mon. Not 130,000!

@@marshallcrawford7909 Agree. Epic fail. Not sure why I used that number. I've made several videos in the Monongahela since this video, and I've corrected my mistake. Sorry for the bad information! Nevertheless, thanks for watching, and feel free to comment and correct any time! Bill

Mr. Marion, anything you can do to help keep the dirt roads in West Virginia open, would be greatly appreciated. A lot of roads are being closed off by a company who bought up most all of West Virginia's open lands. This company owns the properties, however, the dirt roads going through these thousands of acres are owned by the public. Our roads are dissapearing from online maps and this company is gating off the dirt roads that have been used by the public for over 100 years. If someone could research this and make a story/video of the dirt roads that are being closed off, it would help stop this billion dollar company from closing West Virginia off to the public. This is a real and serious issue that West Virginian's are trying to fight.

Route 33 has dirt roads that connect to it. Route 33 from Josephine to Fireco West Virginia (route 3/3) is being gated off by a big cooperation, this is happening all over West Virginia (old dirt roads and old public highways/dirt roads), are being gated off and taken off online maps. We here in West Virginia, we are trying to fight this big cooperation by starting petitions and getting the word out. Please support West Virginia in this fight to keep all of our dirt roads open to the public (Everyone all over the world), not just the extreamly rich billionairs.

I'm releasing a video in a couple of weeks about highland scenic highway in WV. If you're planning a motorcycle trip, it's a must! Trust me. If I could release the video sooner I would, but the road is amazing. As short as it is, it rivals the Blue Ridge Parkway, and yet there's not a lot of traffic. Thanks for watching! Bill

West Virginia country roads are being blocked off by gates all over the state. A company worth over 2.2 billion dollars is leasing land to individuals and allowing them, some say they are asking them, to gate off dirt roads that the public has accessed for over 100 years. Raleigh County resident Lucy Lester has started a petition to save our dirt roads in West Virginia. Please help save our dirt roads, by calling West Virginia elected officials and telling them how much we love our dirt roads, and that they need to stay open to the public. West Virginia is home to country roads, not to big cooperations.

The way the world is going, and what I've seen progress over the last few decades - I fear there are not many people & not much time left that will ever know what it's like to be completely rural and completely free. Even the rural neighbors end up blinded and vote for huge development... hoping their children and grandchildren will get "jobs" with some corporation & industry and not relocate. Then the companies and billionaires come - and the next generation doesn't even remember how things were and the reason we loved it so much. I'm about to be on my way in a ride I hope makes it there and back from about the last 2 rural miles left between Baton Rouge and New Orleans - the way things were is gone & I'm pretty much the youngest person alive with vivid memories of how it was & I'm going on 50. I support y'alls efforts 100%.

Bill, for a real country road trip, find Rte 19 out of Princeton and head to Beckley. Then pull out of Beckley on Rte 16 going South to Rte 10 and on into Pineville. Your arms will be worn out. I found out later that Rte 97 is the easy way out to I-77.

It's nice at the park north of Sioux City, IA & another park along the ride. Years ago I passed on US 75 (I think) on the Nebraska side of the river from Iowa, south from Sioux City to Omaha & it was on the Loess as well - and much preferred than across the river in Iowa, going down I-29. One of my favorite places I've ever beem, in one of the most middle-of-nowhere places I've ever been... is Smith Falls State Park in Nebraska, just east ov Valentine, Ne - not far from the SD border. You can go under the spring fed waterfall & swim in the scenic river. The ride going back east on NE12 is a vary relaxed, nice ride.

I'll probably get to that in September if my calendar will let me. Locals love fishing that creek. Speaking of the other side of Spruce Knob, Osceola and the road that cuts through those farms is fascinating to me. We made two videos at the Sinks. The cave is interesting, but that whole area is like going back in time.
