Mine was a 1981-82 JCM 800 2x12 combo (Model 4104). 50 watt bought it 24 years ago, had it for a few years, and then sold it but really regretted it. Fast forward 9 years later, and I went to True Tone Music in Santa Monica, CA on a significant birthday (one that ends in a zero, LOL) and there it was in the used amp section. Bought it on the spot, and I've had it back now for 13 years, and right before Covid, I took it to Revamp Amps on Melrose Blvd, and Colleen from Fazio Electrics was working there at the time, and Colleen and Andy restored the circuit to stock. I'm replacing my baffle board, since it's all cracked and flimsy, and maybe later I'll recover the cab in red tolex since it looks a bit beat. Love your channel! Take care!

@@MrJeffwards I did like the original speakers, but they were worn, so I had a V30/Greenback speaker combo in it, and now with the new baffle board I'm finishing up, I'm putting two Celestion Neo Creambacks in it to try that out. It always sounded great no matter what speaker it had, though.

I regretted selling my 2013 Splawn Quick Rod, In 2021 I had Scott build me a new amp with all the features available. I think it's the best amp made. I have the Diezel Vh4, Soldano SLO , Bognar Helios, and a crap load of other amps but the Splawn gets played the most. I also have a Super Sport and a Seafoam Green Super Strat that Scott built for me and they are also up there with my favorite pieces of gear. Anytime I am traveling through North Carolina and have time to stop in and see Scott he is always gracious enough to spend a little time talking to me even though he is always so busy. He is the nicest guy you could meet and builds the best amps.

The first tube amp I ever bought was a Peavey 3120. GC was having a special where they threw in a free 4x12 cabinet. 120 watts was way too much for me back then, and still is to this day, but I do miss that amp. All three channels had great tones.

I sold my Marshall YJM. I was an amazing amp that sounded SOOOOO good, but was kind of impractical due to the size and weight. I never gigged it because it was such a beast to move around so I played it at home. I had a bunch of other Marshalls, so when they went up in value, I decided to cash in and sold it for double what I got if for new. But it was the ULTIMATE Plexi....built-in attenuator, built-in overdrive pedal circuit, etc. Now they are super-expensive and rarely come up for sale used. Maybe I can get another one someday.......

Although im deep down the rabbit hole of high-gain guitar gear these days, i actually grew up a drummer, and my kit back in the 90's was a jet black Remo Quadura set with double "cannon" bass drums and I sold it for a rediculous price even for back then... Its a hard kit to get today and i absolutely loved that kit... I know its not guitar related, but hey... (Im in the collection stage of my guitar gear, tough to sell anything quite yet)

Mine was a Hartke GT100 hybrid guitar amp. The fender-esque clean and marshalloid crunch channels with tons of headroom made it one of the BEST pedal platform amps ever, IMO. I happened upon the one I traded to my buddy on GC NYC's used gear (mine had drywall mud and white paint from wall repairs my dad made at my parents' house in FL as a teen following some moisture damage hurricanes, and I know for a fact my buddy moved to New York) and have been sad that I was unable to buy it back as I didn't have the cash on hand. Also, the amp I traded it for broke due to user error, the famous Ibanez solid state head featured on an episode of Glenn Fricker's channel. I'd love to have either amp again, tbh.

I sold a Mike Shannon built RR1 with a custom hot rod flame paint job and unfinished neck. It was a dream to play and I loved it. This is where the regret thing gets tricky though, 'cause I sold it to fund the purchase of a JH-1, which I love even more and has quadrupled in value since. So, I do regret no longer having that unique RR1, but I don't regret the decision. Ideally, I'd love to have both Lol.

3 Amps...Tech 21 Trademark 60, Tech 21 Trademark 300 2x12, Peavey Teal Stripe Renown but the biggest loss is my 1985 Mesa Boogie Mark III SimulClass w/EQ. Small head version that absolutely kicked everything else's butt. Traded it to a music store for a ?????? ?????? ??????? 2x12 which I hated and when I want to trade back the amp for my Mark III, it was gone...sold that very day I traded. Still have the Mesa Metal Grill 4x12 but so empty without the Mark III. LOVE YOUR CHANNEL...bless you and thank you.

My first amp I bought when I was 16, was a crate Crate BV60 blue tolex. I had a randall 4x12 cab loaded with g12t-75. A situation led me to sell them both. I could of stuffed the head in a closet and just sold the cab. I just didn't enjoy either at the time, and the situation I was in, so it went. That was my regret for not thinking of the closet situation even if I sold the cab I could of got something different later on.. I still check marketplaces and local stores to see if its still around. That'll be my impulse purchase one day. It had a white mark on top when I bought it back in 2006, I'm sure it'll still be there.

I had a 1996 Charvel San Dimas III when I was in high school. It had a flame maple top with a tobacco burst finish and to this day(I’m 36) I have never even seen a picture of one exactly like it. I’ve seen a quilt top with a Floyd but never a flame top with a Wilkinson like mine. The crazy thing is it came up for sale back in 2010,I bought it then sold it again a year later to buy an amp head. I’ll most likely never see it or another one like it again 😭

I try to keep on to as many stuff as possible. I regret selling Fenix STL guitar (Fenix used ot make Squier instruments in the 90s) with scalloped frets from the 12th or 15th fret on, the neck felt absolutely amazing, and it had a DiMarzio Super Distortion which just sounded MEAN! I am rather guilty of buying too cheap and therefore needing to buy twice. I have 2x Bugera 6262, 1x Bugera 333 and 1x Bugera 1990. The 6262 I modded the resonance mod and not really missing anything sonically between the original (had massive possibility to compare the 6262 vs. the 5150 II, basically zero difference), but still need the OG 5150 II or 6505 II at some point in my life. The 333XL randomly changes channels because of an issue on the DSP Board, and the 1990 since a few days is completely silent. I have, during the years, came to reckon that quality does have it's price. The good thing is that modding the amps does not hurt from a financial point of view.

I usually don’t do combos but I had an archon mki 25 combo that sounded really good. Unusual tolex and grill cloth job but a really handsome amp. I traded it away for some reason. Tried a mkii archon head and loved it but the effects loop was unbearably noisy and PRS wanted to dick me around on the warranty. Anyway a year goes by and my old combo comes back to my local shop. I bought it immediately. The reason I regretted trading it so much though was because when my dog passed away I had just gotten that amp and ended up writing a song about him using that amp just after I had to put him down, so I associated that amp in particular with him. Always hated myself for getting rid of it after that. So I’m really glad I have it again.

My only real gear regret was selling my Engl Ritchie Blackmore head and cabs. Bought new in 2002, sold in 2012. In truth, I didn't need a 100W head and two cabs any more, and it was taking up a crap load of space in my small apartment. An opportunity came up to sell it, and on the spur of the moment I accepted. I probably wouldn't have used it ever again, but it was an awesome bit of kit, and my golden rule is usually not to sell anything truly awesome. Using a couple of UK 30W Orange heads at the moment, and super happy. Probably more my sound to be honest, but I do still wish I had that Engl.

This right here needs to be an amp sim immediately!!!! Yeah I’ve gotten rid of tons of gear over the years and I regret basically all of it. I’ve only made one solid upgrade that I eventually lost anyway. I traded a line 6/bogner for a krankenstien+. I made sure the guy knew what he was doing. He was adamant he wanted my amp because it had reverb. So I did the trade. But I had to sell it to make a truck note. I also had to sell a Schecter ATX to make a truck payment. Ugh. That was a rough patch. I’ve lost a pair cool custom 4x12’s. I actually gave them back to the guy I bought them from. He basically sold them to me for spare change so when they got to be in the way, I just gave them back to him. I’ve lost guitars along the way that I have no idea where they actually ended up. Jackson Kelly poof gone. I had a carvin guitar that I have no recollection of getting rid of. I had a carvin p.a. That was somehow “acquired” permanently from me and then given to a bar. Still not sure how I was Jedi’d out of that. Like the guy said he didn’t wanna jam with my band anymore and then wouldn’t let me come get my stuff. I also had to get rid of some vintage pa stuff from the 60’s due to its size. I lost basically my whole studio (I mean I lost my house entirely) in a hurricane. 3 trees through my house. Took out everything. Found one of my monitors down in the woods by the swamp. It still worked. lol I had a Marshall valvestate when I was a kid that I wish I kept. I really could keep going. There’s more guitars. There’s more amps. More cabs. Mixers. Mics. I’ve gone through a ton of stuff. I wish I still had it all.

Man so many pieces of gear over the years I regret letting go. Usually it’s stuff I had to sell because I was just broke when I was younger and some emergency would come up and the guitar gear was all I had worth anything. Had a Jackson COW 7 that I absolutely loved but it had to go because of car trouble. Those sell for stupid money now so I’m just not willing pay for another one. At the same time I had a VHT Pittbull UL half stack with a fatbottom cab. Those also had to go for same car problems. Possibly one of my favorite guitar rigs I’ve ever owned but probably never own another since they have also gotten crazy expensive. Some less depressing stuff is I sold my old mesa Mark IV to fund a mountain bike and immediately regretted it. I ended up buying another one for a great price back before those skyrocketed and it’s never leaving my collection. I had an Ibanez S7420bp which was my first 7 string and I sold it like an idiot. I’d accepted I’d probably never own another one because of course they’ve also skyrocketed in price and I refuse to pay the overly inflated current market prices but a few weeks ago I found one on FB market in amazing shape and the seller was super cool and worked with me to ship it and it’s even better than my original. So some kinda lame losses but a few happy endings.

I have downsized a lot of my collection in the last couple years. I have thankfully not regretted any I moved on. I'd rather see them go to a new home where they're used and loved. I'm at a point now where the things to downsize would be unique in tone/configuration, and probably too expensive to replace in today's prices. I'm aware of evolving tastes and coming back around to some gear we used to play more so I'm holding onto a couple things right now even if they don't get much play time

A candy apple red BC Rich Warlock, reverse headstock and gold hardware, diamond inlays. This was before I knew how to get a decent sound by boosting the input, so I was never happy with how it sounded. Still regret letting that thing go.

My silly gear story is selling off a TCE dark matter distortion pedal, a $40 distortion. I love it for bass reamps and bass tone so much, I have no idea why I ever sold it. I bought it again and it’s a staple of my bass reamps now

I got 2, the first one was an ltd fx 260sm that i had for about 7 years but just recently sold in the last year and the other was an mh100qmnt in reindeer blue. Both were sold for car repairs and both i regret selling more than the ec1000s i had. They felt great to play, sounded and looked amazing, and i can never find fx260sm's for sale anymore. The reindeer blue mh100qmnt ive seen a few times, but its like 400+ and with a kid now an impulse buy like that just isnt reasonable

There's so many amps. There's two in particular. One was a dual rectifier rack mount. Never going to be able to touch that again financially. The other was a crate stealth that I didn't want to sell but I needed money. I had planned on keeping that amp and selling a rectifier ahead at the time. A revision f. Since the rectifier was not selling, I sold the crate stealth when I got the chance. The day I shipped the crate stealth the rectifier sold on eBay😢

“Upon this cab” I think is what you were looking for Kyle lol… yea I here you on selling gear. I’m caught up atm just having to save up because I am not comfortable trading selling anything I own atm for something different. Definitely a nice sound amp though. I don’t know if it’s the mic you are using or what but for my personal taste I would probably throw an eq in the loop of it. That said I def see the appeal. Sounds really good.

Had one of the early models of the J Mascis Jazzmasters before they stopped using rosewood for the fretboard. Since getting rid of it I’ve played several others trying to replace it and none of them play like this one did.

Piece of gear I regret selling: random baritone scale agile seven string, it wasn’t anything amazing but I sold it to help a friend pay for new tires after a bad car crash and I’d used it on a couple albums and it feels weird to not have the guitar I’d used for those albums. Sold two Ibanez 8strings I never could jell with, don’t really miss em but I didn’t really need to sell them either. Piece of gear I wish I’d kept: my first real band before I played guitar my dad rented the guitarist of my band one of those Kerry king jcm800s and it was so fucking good. I wish I’d had the foresight to buy it for myself but I never envisioned myself playing guitar in bands back then.

Kyle, I have a 2007 QR100.. (one of the first of the 4 button footswitch era) just love it.. it can be dark depending upon the guitar and cab.. but it was an original KT77 amp.. blew some tubes and had EL-34B's put in.. i miss the KT77 to be honest.. not sure but they had some sizzle... not so smooth.. What tubes are in this Splawn Comp? I may go back to KT-77's..??

I didn’t let go of it, but I’ve got this Jackson rhoads guitar. It was my first own guitar and I played it to death. Sadly, I had no idea how to properly take care of a guitar back then as a teen and the fretboard cracked. Now it’s kinda impossible to get it in working condition again. The frets are nickel frets and they are worn down so much, you can’t find a fret that isn’t dead anymore and because of the crack in the fretboard there is no way to refret it. Now it’s only collecting dust, but I wouldn’t ever have the heart to throw it away

one piece of gear I would never sell is my OG Carvin Legacy VL100 with original green back 25's that amp/cab combo is the shit, I like it more than 5150's or mesa's used to work in a music store and tried everything they had come through for years and this combo is just magic, eats pedals like a champion, paired it with a 4 x12 with rocket 50's for that doomy low end and Heaven all Mighty it's best sounding set up I've ever heard!

I bought a Peavey Valve King II 100w head brand new for like $450. I played it. Actually loved it. and I sold it about a couple years after I sold it to purchase a Dual Rectifier because I always wanted one. And yes ... as strange as it sounds ... I regret selling it. The Dual Rectifier was not the God Tier tone I thought it was in my head not knowing about what makes tone like I do today. That Valve King was like having a 5150, a Fender Deluxe, and a Marshallish breakup tone all in one amp.

For me, it was my Jackson WRX in natural. Not overly expensive, but god damn that finish is so hard to find for me in Canada here. And when I do, the guitar is being listed for significantly more. One day I will re-acquire that beast. In other news. I also sold my Hughes & Kettner Grandmeister 36 about 4 years ago. Regretted that, but found a Deluxe 40 for an insane deal recently. $750CAD!

Yes: A Sunn Concert Lead, a 200 watt version of the Beta Lead that I found for $180-ish. Then a couple of years later, I bought a first run Fender Boxer Tele for $420. My regret- Trading in my ADA MP-2/Peavey Classic 60-60 rack setup. I traded in the ADA, it's foot controller, and an ART rack delay unit for a Boss GT-8. I SHOULD have just ditched the ART because that was the weak link in the chain that didn't work properly. I could've just gotten a Boss Delay or Reverb pedal instead and threw it in the ADA's loop.
@seanhart213
@seanhart213 4 ай бұрын
I had one of the ART units too and felt like the input and output circuitry even when "bypassed" sort of degraded the signal before hitting the cab. The ADA stuff is jaw dropping though, as well as the old Peavey Rockmaster!

I bought a Wine Red Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom in 2012. It was the first and only new Gibson I've ever owned ($1800 new). It was one of the models Gibson did with the baked maple fretboards when they couldn't use ebony. That guitar was basically a weight relieved Les Paul Custom (even with a diamond inlay which was odd for a Classic Custom) with no back binding and a slimmer neck 🥹 After I sold it I ALMOST bought another one but then they discontinued them. Probably my biggest gear selling regret. That along with a Wechter acoustic and electric guitar I won from Sweetwater. Both guitars were valued at over $1,000. The acoustic sounded incredible (better than any acoustic I'd ever played) with a spruce top, rosewood back and sides, etc but I needed money so I STUPIDLY traded it into Guitar Center 😭 They'd never seen one of them so I only got like $300 for it. And the electric had both a piezo and push/pinch switches on the pickup rings to let you choose what pickup configuration you wanted (in phase, out of phase, single coil selections, etc). If I could get those three guitars back, I would. As far as an amp, probably just my very first amp I ever owned. A Marshall VS100 back in 2003 or 2004. At the time I was a big Static-X fan but I had no idea until after I sold the amp that the amp was heavily used on their earlier albums. I'll likely buy another one of those in the future. Great sounding amp.
