I wonder if knotting their hair like that to show marriage status is where the saying ( tying the knot ) comes from ?
@celtictemplar5 жыл бұрын
That it was mainly used for. It depends upon the tribe and time that there group belonged to in which the knots were used.

Actually..."tying the knot" comes from the Celtic practice of "handfasting " which is essentially a marriage ceremony. In it the couple's hands are bound together

Hey Templar, how about showing us that photo of you as a child with your curly hair? I too have scruffy curly hair and beard. I recently did a DNA test and it confirmed that I am descended from the people of Southern England, specifically Cornwall, (the home of Stonehenge) and Ireland Scotland, most specifically the North of Ireland. Have you done a video on Celtic tattoos before?
@celtictemplar5 жыл бұрын
I've not done a video on Celtic tattoos before, but I shall try and make one in the month of March.

Having curly hair doesn't definitely indicate Celtic descent though

I thought the moustache thing was British? Didn’t Julius Cesar say the Brits “wore no beard except upon the upper lip” because the romans didn’t even have a word for moustache?
@celtictemplar Жыл бұрын
Well no, the moustache was influanced to the Britains from the lands of Gaul. Mainly due to the trade network, or as well as refugees that came to the lands of Britannia
@Inquisitor_Vex Жыл бұрын
@@celtictemplar is there evidence of that?

@celtictemplarАй бұрын
In the translation and meaning of Galicia, the Romans labeled everything as Galicia that some a form of Gallic.
@CelticDruidTempleOfBeliefsnewaАй бұрын
@@celtictemplar that is incorrect that's why there's Gaul & Britannia Gallia is a word for Gaul but a region of France and outside of France Hispania also different Hispania is Spain Portugal Lusitania back then & Galatia also a different region so no you're wrong
