"Egypt is the Gift of the Nile" once claimed Herodotus. To them, it provided food, resources, and land for agriculture. As such, its control was of vital importance to Egypt’s existence - so how did ancient Egypt control the Nile?

My favourite time in Egypt's development is 20.000 BC, when the Sahara wasn't a desert.

@@KnowHistory It's interesting to think there might've been a possibility Egypt was a colony of Atlantis, but that's just pseudo-history, and we have no actual physical evidence of that.

I think there are rock carvings by Stone Age people showing lush landscapes and animals deep in the Sahara so that’s the closest we’ll probably get to written records

That is what a little tilt of the earth can do. I am trying my best to find a youtube video about egyptian dam builders. There was a city that was built in the desert, and they led the nile to the city with canals. It was an eye opener, but i cant seem to find it again. Id be very happy for any help finding it.

Great video!! One suggestion though, would be to show the route of the canal, and where exaclty the depression was, as that wasn’t super clear. Other than that, loved it!!

It was called 'Joseph's Canal' for a reason. Recognize the name from the Biblical patriarchs?
