As the most enduring and influential Taoist symbol, the yin and yang (or simply yin-yang) is recognized almost anywhere in the world. Still, as is true with many ancient symbols, its integration with popular culture has caused confusion over the real meaning behind the concept of yin and yang.
The yin-yang symbol is a good reminder to always strive to find balance in order to achieve peace and harmony. The two sides may be opposite, but one cannot exist without the other and they are never to be separated.

You mentioned Kung Fu Tse but not Lao Tse - this is absurd. Yin/Yang is the center of Tao Te King, just see the first chapter. Kung Fu tse wrapped it in for his connection to the old tradition.

If you are referring to the 'Old Man'? He's Lau Tzu, and the pronunciation is Tsuh, as in "roof" or "book"

@@trebor1745 Kung Fu is Kung Fu, and Lau Dse ist Lau Dse, transliterated in different ways, but the vowel in "dse" is spoken like "fir". The most characteristic Chinese vowel. Don't pronounce it like "roof"!
