I guess sometimes it's a perceived bad upbringing and lack of attention. Maybe there really was a difference between her oldest and youngest siblings and her , and a fragile child could easily develop bad behavior from that growing into full blown mental illnesses and evilness.

As a nurse, I asked myself the same question. So suspicious than in every cardiac arrest she is right there... and none of her co-workers realized this? @@breathoffreshair7795 But the fact that it was always her calling out for help or the attacks happened right when she was alone with the patient must have been suspicious. I agree - but I know from working in the medical field in lots of different small UK towns, you do get lots of people with similar and hard to diagnose illnesses. Insular communities mean genetic diseases, sometimes horrible ones which are unnoticable until they're fatal, are more common than you'd think. They're also harder to test for, especially on children. City hospitals not only have more funding, but also more diverse patients, so horrible events like this would be harder to explain away.

I agree. It seems like the hospital itself transferred out more “serious” cases so I can’t imagine there were stable patients flat lining on the regular there. If one nurse had so many saves after her patients flat lined especially within that time frame I would be SKEPTICAL. But maybe it’s because I notice patterns and make connections easily, maybe those coworkers don’t 🤷🏻‍♀️

The fact that they didn't connect all these incidents only shows how bad this hospital was. Almost everyone had the same thing (cardiac and respiratory arrests) during their near death episodes, that should've warranted an investigation of what was going on and who were working during these incidents. This makes me rather upset since I work with the elderly and I can't imagine there are people who can do this to those who can't defend themselves.

What is even more infuriating about this case is that this person, while obviously very mentally ill, was not "failed" by society in any way. Most serial killers are the product of a childhood of sexual and physical abuse, isolation, poverty, neglect etc, and while these are not excuses for what they did, we can at least understand how and why this person turned out this way and committed these horrible crimes. This woman grew up in absolutely normal circumstances. Her only set back was that she was bullied but who isn't in school? That's what infuriates me, that she killed these children for no reason at all and it seems we as a society could not even have prevented it in any way. It was completely random.
@duchessofhazjack4878
@duchessofhazjack4878 2 жыл бұрын
@@idek7438 you don't have to have an abusive home life to develop severe mental illness. She might not have been failed by society. It's no one's job to diagnose her and get her treatment if she, or a family member isn't going to get her seen by the right doctor. But the children here who suffered were failed by all who allowed her to care for them because she was very, clearly unstable. They knew that whilst she was training and they purposely put her on the kids ward.

As someone with anorexia, I 100% believe that her experience of it was a manifestation of her Munchausens disorder. I actually thought that before you said it. I also think it was two fold: 1) To garner sympathy and be cared for, a sort of return from biproxy to straight Munchausens and 2)It has elements of malingering as I imagine she knew this would delay her trial. Anorexia is complex and isn't always typical. I wouldn't put it past her to both suffer from it and at the same time attempt to wield it as shield to avoid facing up to the consequences of her actions.

As the mom of a chronically ill child who is hospitalized routinely and will be throughout his life, this sickens and terrifies me. When you are in this situation, facing the possible loss of your child, these nurses and other medical personnel are literally your Gods. They are the ones that hold the key to keeping your baby with you. They are the ones who you hand your child over to in an OR, they are the ones you trust to watch over your child better than anyone else possibly could while you exhaustedly take your first shower in 4 days or eat for the first time in as long. The idea of someone in such a trusted, respected position abusing the trust of these parents and sickly babies- the literal most vulnerable possible beings on earth- is so fucking horrific. Ugh. I do feel like it took the hospitals a bit too long to realize something was up… idk maybe it would go differently today with all the different protocols in place and everything. I pray this can never happen to any other suffering family.

@@Alejojojo6when I brought this to the attention of the head nurse he was extremely alarmed. He and I quote spoke the very thing that drew red flags for me. Sedatives already bring your levels down more sedatives would only make his levels worse. He flagged the upper management for me while I banned her from our room immediately. I’m sure sedatives can help level peoples vitals but he was only 2 months old at this time and it was the furthest thing he needed at that time. Not to mention him almost flat lining 3 times our entire stay. The third time was just 4 hrs after THIS nurse put us in a step down unit because he was in her words “doing better and wanted to get out of here” (and I over heard her ignorant ass saying they needed to turn over beds because RSV was running rampant) shortly before His vitals ended up in single digits is when she wanted to put him on more sedatives. I had to actually sound the alarm because of his vitals NOT her on our way back to the ICU a different nurse had to jump on the table and manually blow oxygen into his breathing tub while being wheeled to the icu because he was dying right before my eyes. There is so much more to our story but I’m sparing the details. Not just a “histerical relative” you can miss me with that. If it was not for me being there, I’m convinced they would of killed my son. And this is a prestigious hospital on the east coast not some small town medical unit.

the personality disorder they suspected she had was likely Histrionic Personality Disorder. A person values attention so much they’ll do drastic things to receive it. I used to think I have this disorder but in reality I was just a very attention seeking person due to my low self esteem and other issues. Idk how to explain the difference. I was nearly accidentally killed when I was a child. I had really severe asthma and did nebulizer treatments often, so we picked up a prescription from a pharmacy. My meds got mixed up, I was given (expired, thankfully) about 6x the dosage I was supposed to be taking. I started to get sick, and using that medicine and it would help, until it only started lasting 5 minutes. There was some other mishaps when my grandparents called for an ambulance, my town only had volunteer services that took us to the next town for hospital and had three ambulances. The first didn't leave the lot, the engine failed, the second got a flat half way to my house, but because one of the EMTs pushed they managed to get to me. When I managed to get to the ER, my O2 stats were in the fifties, which. Children are admitted for 92-90 and adults 90 and below. I had to be transferred to a bigger hospital an hour away and spent two weeks in hospital, on the ICU children's pulmonary ward. The doctors said I was incredibly lucky, and had the medicine not been expired I would have probably died, and had the EMTs not driven on a flat the rest of the way to start emergency care, I wouldn't have lived the 30min ambulance ride to the first hospital or the little over an hour ride to the bigger hospital. Medicine is an easy weapon to wield, wielding it expertly can save lives or take them, and wielding them incorrectly will almost always end in tragedy

If you had nebulizer treatments so often, did you parents not wonder about the high dosage? No blame, just wondering and for my advice: If you see a sudden change in dosage without a specific explanation for it (like they only have the version half as strong, but then they would explain to you as well why you would need a higher dose than you are used to.) If they don't, always check if that's correct. Pharmacies can look up the prescription since they usually scan it every day into the computer. Then the prescription would make things more clear. (Although if the dose is suddenly higher than usual, we need to confirm if that's correct unless it is specifically written on the prescription by the doctor). Same goes for sudden changes in color, shape etc, especially when you don't have meds in a blister but a bottle. I still find it tricky that people only get bottles with the name on the label. Not to make you paranoid but in blisters you can read on the back of the blister. A pill bottle is literally trusting they pull out the right container with your medication. I guess you are used to it whereas we in my country in Europe have usually 28-30 pills in a blisterpackage. Just rarely do we take from bigger containers in a bottle if the drug just isn't available in smaller amounts. (Promethazin only comes in a 500 pill- container.)

@@Fluffy-Fluffy I don't remember the situation clearly, but at that point in my life I had been very sick, often, like in and out of the hospital a lot sick, so maybe they thought the increase of dosage was because of that, or maybe it had been mislabeled? But at the time I was staying with my grandparents since my grandmother was usually home and could watch me. I'd been diagnosed in the second grade and was in the the fifth grade when this incident occured, so I was trusted to administer my meds as I needed. Incorrect. Babies can cry due to trapped gas, but colic is not caused by gas. It can be the other way around though. Babies suck in air while crying due to colic that can then cause gas pain. If you read any number of medical journals or articles on colic you will find that there is no known cause for colic and it is not due to gas.

My son was born with hypoglycaemia because they didn't catch that I had GD, he was in special care for 10 days and his nurses were all so amazing. Even the cleaners, doctors, carers, everyone was absolutely amazing. I put my trust into these strangers to make my new born baby better and he recovered after 10 days. I can't imagine not being able to trust the very people who are supposed to heal your child. This disgusting human gives these nurses a bad reputation 😤 to all you wonderful special care nurses, thank you so much for healing our babies ❤️

My husband's sister has had Munchausen by proxy syndrome pretty much her whole life, so over the years she's claimed she had cancer, where I myself have caught her pulling her hair out so her parents n others would believe she'd gone thru chemo. Shes also lost all 3 of her kids, the day her girl was 6 yrs old, I was watching her n the icecream truck stopped outside n she wanted a treat so I bought her a strawberry fruit bar, she ate the whole thing n everything was fine about an hour later I was talking to her n told her that I got a treat for her girl n told her what it was, she absolutely flipped n started screaming n literally trying to make her daughter throw up by shoving her hand down her throat, she repeatedly screamed "She is deathly allergic to strawberries!" She called poison control n we all just were in shock n awe of how ridiculous she was acting! Seriously if she was allergic then she would e had a reaction as soon as she swallowed her first bite, keep in mind that this rampage she was exhibiting was an entire hour or more after she had eaten it! She also intentionally told doctors that she had so many issues that she convinced one of them to remove cysts on her neck even after they told her that surgery was absolutely not necessary but she was convinced she had cancer n she had only 6 yrs left to live. Astonishingly her parents have always believed everything she'd say and she'd also make her kids ill when they were like a month old n up she'd feed them rotten bottles of formula that she'd leave out for days n they'd get so sick!, the list goes on n on n on! I cannot stand her n her parents are the only people to have ever believed her bullshit! Its extremely aggravating n its hell having to have her over for visits n holidays, my in laws live with us cuz they're getting really sick with them getting on in years so I've had to bite the crap outta my tongue just so I don't just lay into her about her compulsive lying! So yeah I know all too well what its like to be around someone like this crazy women in this case.

I don’t think I’ve ever been this angry when listening to a case. I genuinely do not understand why no one caught her earlier and how no one put it together. This woman had worked there FOR ONLY A MONTH! And suddenly all of these unexplained cardiac arrest/ respiratory attacks happen?!? And she was involved in all of the cases?!?!? Someone make it make sense.

I understand the hospital was understaffed, but the more things happen, the harder and harder it gets to understand why they did ring any alarms earlier. Like it's understandable that respiratory and cardiac complications happen regularly... but the key to the insulin fridge being lost, and the ridiculously high insulin levels... how was no one tipped off?
