Who hasn't heard of the legendary Clark Sisters. But I must say that in the beginning of their singing careers, They did NOT have their harmonization together. They all sung the same pitch and they were in unison. It wasn't until their "Is My Living In Vain & You Bought The Sunshine" albums when their harmonies started to form. Where as The Anointed Pace Sisters sung in harmony and plus there was an anointing there that could not be denied. I think that the reason why The Clark Sisters had more notability is thru the help & shine of their mother Dr. Mattie Moss Clark. Dr. Clark put her girls on all of her programs and even had them performing their songs during her conventions & seminars. So with that, gave her girls MORE exposure than The Pace Sisters.

It’s not just Phyllis. It’s Phyllis and Leslie. They also aren’t tenors. Phyllis is a mezzo soprano who sings the bottom because she has the heaviest voice of her sisters and Leslie is a soprano because they needed somebody to sing with Phyllis.

Black artists get offered lopsided record deals in which the company owns their music in perpetuity. In exchange, they're given cash advances that account for a fraction of what their music will ultimately bring in, and a minuscule percentage of the royalties their music earns. "If you go back to the 50s, it's the exact same character sketch today: African-American, poor, looking for a way out of their circumstances, and using their talent as a way out," said Eric Holt, an assistant professor of music business at Belmont. "That is easy to exploit: 'Let's give them a little bit, and they don't even know the value of what they're selling us for this little bit.'"
