It's not an issue of less product. Naturals use a LOT of product. The issue is not wetting the hair enough. I wish every natural would do wash and gos everyday with a silicone-free leave in for two weeks straight. Most wouldn't bother with weekly twist outs after seeing what their fully hydrated curls look like.
@OnlyOneJess5 жыл бұрын
hmmmm, this might be a good idea.

Great results. I think his method would work better with a more natural gel. Wetline is a bit heavy and maybe a little drying. Try it with Uncle Funky's Curly Magic or a flaxseed based gel. I like his method but I hate how he says we should redo our wash n go everyday. Ain't nobody got time for that! I need my hair to last for 7 days!😆

I find that Wetline makes very big clumps, but once you'e thouroughly defines your culrs, it's amazing. My hair doesn't feel as crunchy as it does with ecostyler. It feels like my curls are coated in a layer of candle wax.

And that’s the issue. I’ve read his book and kinky hair needs to be moisturized DAILY for its max hydration & length retention. Once you saturate your hair daily your hair starts to naturally separate & detangle & fairy knots will be a thing do the past. If your hair is constantly soft & moisturized it becomes quicker & easier to do your hair daily…

Hey Jess love your vids "come on somebody" sooo cute! Anyway girl I live in NYC and have been going to Anthony Dickey Salon Hair Rules since I became natural Literally He did my Big Chop and color and highlights and it was amazing! For his wash n go method the last step is sitting under the dryer to set the curls then he takes the blowdryer and stretches the roots for volume. So if you air dry you aren't going to get the same results as sitting under a dryer. At his salon once he applies the curling cream he has you shake your hair like crazy and immediately you sit under dryer to lock in that definition. He's really cool and loves to educate about hair which is awesome!
@denyshadials57025 жыл бұрын
mrsbern Thank you for pointing that out. And I’m SO jealous that he’s your stylist! ❤️ I agree that she needs a trim, but her results would’ve been much better if she did the whole method instead of the banding. Or overnight plopping, I get great results that way too.

I have type 4 hair and have been using his method since March and my hair has grown so much. I’ve been natural since 2012 and have never been able to grow hair past shoulder length, my hair is now touching my back. He says the tighter the curl pattern the more often you should redo it but for me i redo it after the 3rd day and it works for me. I would have never thought that my hair would grow from doing wash n go’s. I am in love with my hair for the first time, i have beautiful curls that range from 4a and 4b and a little bit of 4c.

I’ve been using Anthony Dickey Method for almost a year. I use no towel or comb. I wash with conditioner in shower ever morning, shake it out in shower, and use no comb except to part it. I use the Cantu coconut curling cream, raking it through with my fingers. I also spray in some grape seed oil. I use no heat. I let mine are dry to save time. You must wash every day to seal in moisture, or wet the hair.

It comes out so much better when you do it all in the shower. Shampoo, condition, deep condition, and add both the leave in and style while in the shower. It doesn't give your hair any time at all to dry or create frizz because the constant flow of water keeps your curls clumped and formed. You gotta try it all in the shower, I promise you'll like the results better.
@dawndesson54455 жыл бұрын
Hi. Question for you. Do you literally stand under the shower the whole time? Or do you move from under it whilst applying the products? Thanks in advance for your reply 😊
@n33n33sexy5 жыл бұрын
@@dawndesson5445 Hi! Move from under. Only go under the water when I'm trying to wet the next section I'm working on. Making sure not to reset the section I finished unless I need to add more product to it. But the product apply with much more ease for me when its soaking wet. A spray bottle doesn't get all in your roots when you wet it, that's why I prefer the shower.
@Angie_Onaleta5 жыл бұрын
Trust me! Do it in the shower!! I've been doing his method for two years and ain't never looked back. And put the product on your hair while the water is running down your hair. Bruh.
@monicamitchell93125 жыл бұрын
Ditto, it changed my 4 hour wash day to 1 and a half wash day. Water, shaking and great product is key!
@vee31335 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't the products slide off tho?
@monicamitchell93125 жыл бұрын
@@vee3133 no, you aren't really standing under the water the whole time. You completely soak your hair and start applying product. As it starts to dry just put your head under the water quickly just to re-wet it, also the steam from the shower helps. Once you're done applying your products shake briskly. I use Uncle Funky'sDaughter gel.. in my case when I'm done I apply another layer of water (i know it seems like a lot) but the product pull water in and holds it in. After I shake hard my curls/coils after perfect. Its true that hydrated hair curls best, so believe it or not the extra water helps define it and the product holds the curl. This method lasts and my hair is growing so fast because it hydrated. I will I usually add another gel (a sealer over it) but this is quick too. My entire wash day is an hour to an hour as a half depending on how long it takes to detangle. This is the only step I usually step out of the shower to do. I have 4c, low porosity hair so staying in the shower helps. If you watch Anthony Dickey's video you will see how easy the process it. I start doing it this way when I started the 30 Day Detox with iamblackgirlcurls digital salon and I will never go back. I didn't know my hair could do this. Try it.. the more you do it the better you will get. FYI, the only downside is your hair will take longer to dry. I sit under the dryer for 30 minutes to help keep it stretched and air dry the rest of the time. Lastly this method actually means I can wash in the morning before work if I want to, I just omit the hair dryer. Good luck. Sorry this was so long!!

My hair always reverts to the coils I would have with a wash and go no matter what braid or twist I do. I have relented and made it my usual style. The AD works really well for me. as long as my hair is hydrated (deep conditioner), leave in and cream) and I allow it to fully dry before going to bed. Yours looks beautiful, but soaking wet to the roots is key. also let it dry fully (after you get your hair cut).and you may like it even better.
