The Arken Zulus 3 x 12 & 5 x 20 Side by Side Comparison

In this second video we look at how the two different scopes from Arken Zulus compare when using the zero and range finder. The smaller zoom has a larger field of view on minimum zoom, and ranged down to 4 yards on my scope, even though the official figure is 5 yards. This compares to the 10 yards on the 5 x 20 scope. This makes the scope ideal for close up work, for those shooting rats inside barns etc. The 5 x 20 is still good enough to do this down to 10 yards, but comes into its own at long range, for those who are shooting fox, or deer out to over 300 yards. Either scope can be used for both of the above. At the end of the day, it's down to personal opinion. In the next video I will be taking the 3 x 12 scope down to the range to test the ballistics at close range, and long range use. Other videos will include night time ratting, so stay tuned.

Thanks for a well thought out comparison. After watching this video, I still couldn't make my mind up between the two, so I've ordered both. There is one thing not mentioned though, and that is can these scopes be used with a power bank? Thanks again for the upload.

5x20 appears to have a clearer sight picture, we're the 12 x scope drops light and clarity, , 5x20 seems to be a keeper.

It will be an interesting comparison to put t side by side with Sytong HT LRF 70 6x-20× to see which have better picture. It's too new but probably will show up in the shops around couse price is very low at 800-600 US or British bucks making it slightly more affordable but most compact NV scope with high magnification with LRF.

Im testing the HT 70 (5-20) presently. Zulus better in day mode. Equal in night and IR mode. HT 70 range finder more reliable in variety of conditions. Ballistics work well in both. HT 70 way less fussy focus and better depth of field. HT 70 likely a bit cheaper and better value. Have shot many pests and deer with both (out to 400 yards in day mode, 300 in night IR).

Are the two scopes pointing at the same distance and at the same target ??

Are the range finders the same on both units? Wondering if with a firmware update the 5-20 would be able to range down to 4 yards?

They look the same. There was talk that a software upgrade would come out, but nothing yet, so internally, they could be different.

Have u tested the rangefinders next to each other again as it looked like they reading 5yds different from each other ? Cheers

Yes, they are the same. Probably what didn't help was at different parts of the video. The rifles weren't always side by side. I will do this again at the range. At home, there were too many plants and leaves that crossed the beam, giving a false reading.
