10:22 that little story of the brother having vertigo might be one of the rare times Fillip’s thought about someone outside his father’s narrow (and fickle) definition of “Belter”. The brother’s obviously a Belter, whether or not he’s good at space. Another little niggling insight for Filip to ruminate over

Ty Franck (one half of James Corey) said that when they needed a character to give a speech for this show they would hand if off to his cowriter Daniel Abraham. Seriously, I want that man to write my eulogy! To think that Drummer started out as Fred Johnson's head of security who just blocked Miller from leaving the room without saying anything. 😁

Absolutely! Obviously Clarissa’s character growth overshadows Monica’s own journey, but I fully appreciate how she went from gloryhound to principled journalist. Adm. The driver that killed Xan had almost hit Cara earlier...so this was foreshadowed. I think you have forgotten that final conversation between Admiral Sauvetiere and Lt Babbage about what kind of strict military society they were setting up on Laconia. And hardly anyone who didn't already know the story would have paid attention to the couple of mentions of Duarte before now. I don't think Amos and the others are yet aware of Filip and the situation between Naomi and Marco. As commander, Holden has no obligation to explain his actions, but I think as a friend Amos deserved an explanation. Michio demonstrated why Swiss Army Knives have saws....

Fun little fact : during the very last scene of season 5, the captain of the Barkeith mentions a certain Admiral Duarte who seems to be in charge of Laconia. :) And dont overtstress it Nerdy, you're doing amazing and it's really funny to get to see your immediate thought-process, as despite talking a lot, you're still a very attentive viewer.

As for Laconia this season, well simply put the showrunner (Naran) loved the mini-story `strange dogs` that that storyline is based on and wanted to include it, both to introduce that operation/society generally and Duarte specifically, and to have a springboard for future seasons/shows already set in the final season. Heck it might have been a tip of the cap to the writers to remind people that they can buy and read the last 3 books whenever they want if they don´t want to wait for a hypothetical sequel. Whatever his motives, he wanted it in, and as a respected showrunner making the final season of a well-loved story, it´s not like anyone was gonna say no to him.

2:57 Winston Duarté is Admiral and leader of the planet Laconia. He is the vilain behind what is currently going on. He considers Laconia to be Mars, but taken to the next level. The TV series of expanse ends at Season 6 episode 6. But in the books 30 years after the events you are now watching he is the literally a god level villain. But he's a nuanced villain rather than taking over by force for his own Ego or Nationalistic ends but because he genuinely believes what he is doing is for the good over humanity (particularly against the "dark gods" who wiped out the "builders")

Who knew seemingly delicate Michio’s moment would come steeped in visceral gore?! FTR: When the jovial Samer Salem (“Josep”) was casually sipping a beverage on set, with his prosthetic mauled arm stump hanging out, it was surreal. Usually, there’s a rubberness and unnatural discolouration to prosthetics which makes them tolerable to the naked eye in natural light but the team did such an exemplary job (and the stage was darkened for filming) that the damn thing was hauntingly realistic. And, yes, they made a handful (pun intended) of gag arms designed to be cut (and bleed) in camera. It was quite a thing.
@cliveklg7739

Can't remember where I commented about the realism of the arm scene and wondered how it looked for the cast. And Vanessa Smythe and Samer Salem responded saying it was pretty gruesome on their end too. Might have been on a Ty and That Guy episode.

Loved you guys' reaction to this episode! I had the same look on my face you guys' did when Josep's arm got mangled and Michio had to cut it off. That also shows that Michio isn't some delicate little flower. She is hardcore, and can do what it takes to save people she loves. Just because she is isn't ok with killing people doesn't mean she's weak. And that dovetails nicely with Claire's little talk with Holden where she tells him that he shouldn't ever regret NOT killing someone. And it was definitely jaw-dropping when Drummer put out her broadcast mocking Marco and calling him out. Hoo boy, Drummer is a baddie! She's a force of nature, really. And Marco knows it now, if he didn't already!! And he is MAD.

We all puzzle our way through episodes and watching/hearing that play out in real time rather than just staring at someone oohing and aahing for a half hour then finishing up with "Good episode" is the draw.

Weird that it triggers in low G, not consistent with any similar disease I’ve ever heard of, and… I had a lot of desperate time with Dr. Google. As hard as it is to believe, that last episode is going to be more tense than pretty much any one so far. And even the changes they made in it are all good, except the reduced the complexity of that one thing.

Live shamed and die empty is indeed a great insult, but not the best ever. That title goes to, "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled like elderberry! I fart in your general direction!" That said, most of us do not watch reaction channels to watch folks just sitting and watching a show. We watch for, now dig this... *reactions!* We watch you guys because, hey, you *react* to shit! You don't simply sit there like a bump on a log. We dig how you guys react! So to those who tell you to be more quiet, joke'em if they can't take a fuck. And, just for the record, I'm not trying to be a language na*I or anything, but it's, "Camina," not, "Carmina." ... for the record. 😉

As far as Nerdy's comments... I'll state my opinion. I prefer "stream of consciousness" type reactions, so I'm glad the two of them are making these sort of videos. There are some commenters who will mock reactors for not being 100% right all the time and not knowing future events... but what can you do when someone has that attitude? My occasional annoyance at Nerdy is about moments like 12:57 . (The example in this video is very mild, but in other episodes it is more glaring.) It felt to me like he was criticizing the writers for doing something stupid, by not having guards at this hidden remote supply depot. (That would have been a valid choice, if it happened, because the heat from the guards and their habitation increases the chances of being exposed.) After a moment, the video goes into Nerdy and Clarus's anxiety about the fire fight and the arm. We never see Nerdy realizing he prematurely jumped to a wrong conclusion and retracting his criticism. Maybe it is different in the full-length Patreons, but sometimes the editing makes Nerdy seem smugly arrogant, when we only see the criticism of the writers for things they didn't do. Nerdy should stay true to himself, but it would probably help if we saw more times in these YT edits where he mentions his instinct to doubt the writers was wrong, that he should have given more credit to their proven track record over 5.5 seasons.

For whatever reason (and no shade), this reminds of Michael Scott on the Booze Cruise episode of the Office ruminating on whether Regional Manager or Captain is a higher rank...

Literally every react channel (and person on Earth) does something that annoys someone. I'm glad you two aren't really taking those complaints to heart too much. But that's why I try to spread out my views for even channels, like yours, that I enjoy. So as to not regularly catch things too often and too quickly that may annoy me through not fault of your own.
