It really just goes to show that your imagination will always scare you worse than whatever monster that shows up on the screen. For me it was that sound, the fingers on the wood, and the running footsteps that got me. And the fact that when the monster finally is seen, it doesn't immediately chase her but takes its time, letting the fear build. One of the best I've seen, a lot of horror filmmakers forget that simplicity can be just as terrifying as complex plots and settings.

OK theory time. Obviously impatient for her to decorate the place to match the armoire. Where are the other rustic looking pieces, excuse me? Hence the finger drumming. Hated her wardrobe and the metal bar that did not match at all. Tried to communicate this, was ignored. In desperation, showed itself like “I’m waiting, Miss Oblivious 2018” and even moved the armoire in front of the door, as in, wardrobe, matching furniture, hello. Still didn’t get the point. Finally had to possess her to get out of that joint and hopefully find someone with a bit more fashion and interior design sensibility. Sheesh.

That reveal was horrifying; the sound of thrumming fingers and rapid footsteps were disconcerting enough but I figured it was going to be the standard object haunted by a ghost story. Noooooope, you went straight for heart attack inducing monster reveal-one of the more poignant ones that I've seen in recent years. Ugh, I can still picture the bloody thing just sitting there in my head. Dear Evan and Brodie Cooper, I hate you. Sincerely, a new fan.

@CidRaqLim
@CidRaqLim 6 жыл бұрын
lyte na kye she just moved in. Even with a bed and dresser, her bedroom is bland and spacious. So when she found a free piece of furniture, she brought it in. So two reasons: (1) because her bedroom is still bland and (2) free. Lol. I'll a cheapskate so I'd also pick a free armoire anytime.
@lytenakye486
@lytenakye486 6 жыл бұрын
Lol I'm a cheapskate too and have done my share of free/roadside furniture. One thing I learned, even if its free don't take large furniture unless you want it for more than just filler because you first have to haul it and fight to get it into your home (damn doorways/stairs!) but then you also have to haul it and fight to get rid of it once you find something you actually want and need. 1 Don't waste energy on things you don't need 2 don't waste energy on things that are ugly (like this armoire) and 3 space isn't a bad thing. If she'd only taken what she needed, she'd still be alive. (To be clear this is a joking reply, not a serious argument)
@catherineg9943
@catherineg9943 6 жыл бұрын
As to rejecting the closet, they're uncommon/absent in English flats. So, people tend to use wardrobes/armoires. She just went with what she was used to, and with what reminded her of home, I reckon.

I'm incredibly picky with what I label as "scary", and honestly the sound of the scrolling fingers seemed so dull. I got a weird feeling one evening and for the first in 30 years decided to lock my bedroom door. Now, you know the old trope of the door handle jiggling? Not very scary right? Well my wife wakes me up and whispers that someone is trying to get in. I tell her it must be the cat and proceeded to go back to sleep. That's when I heard it. Jiggle jiggle. My ear actually moved as every nerve in my body honed in on that noise. I moved to the door in an instant and stared at the knob of the door in the gloomy light with every bit of focus as I could. I clearly saw it move! Now, how many? Armed? My door opens inward. Shit. I've got nothing but a cell phone. The jiggle has steadily gotten more insistent . It occurs to me that someone must think the lock is the kind you use a push pin on. But. Just by chance , my door knob had been replaced with a different type, years before. As they were on clearance sale, when we remodeled. I put my phone on flash light and wrapped a towel around my arm and threw the door open and jumped back holding the light in front of me. I head footsteps running to the landing to the staircase and shined the light down just in time to catch a glimpse of someone clearing the bottom of the stairs. We found out that it was a mental patient who had been cutting our plants at night and cut our super friendly cats ears. They took him away but...

Oh god...when the thing showed up, I got the most bizarre tingling sensation all over the back of my scalp....That was so eerie and horrifying. That shot of it stalking across the hall as she discovered the armoire blocking the door gave me chills. It's amazing how such simple imagery can be so effective. Well done.

Great work, actress was very good. Another low budget indy effort that's better than the shit Hollywood is giving us. I would have burned the frigging thing rather than leave it for some other person to find.

Burn it with fire! Great movie, very suspenseful. One thing though is that she looks confused, but not very scared or take it to management when she sees a mess in her room. Usually make you think of breaking and entering. That fingers' sound though, man it gets on my nerve XD

First off, as so many viewers have already mentioned, it is a wonderful piece of story. In a quarter of an hour you have it all: beginning, unravelling, explaining ending. Quite a tight plot intertwined with actual horror moments. There is one question that left me wondering, though: was there something wrong with the electricity that I failed to notice? Because in one scene there is electricity while dark, and the next night where her life is at stake she wanders around with the flashlight.
