A ghost and a goat steal a ship on a quest to cure the nation of sunburnt southern cross tattoos, rich white politicians, and Sky News. Based on true events.
'COOKED' is a five-part animated comedy series:
Ep 1 - Thursday 25 January 9am AEDT
Ep 2 - Monday 29 January 9am AEDT
Ep 3 - Thursday 1 February 9am AEDT
Ep 4 - Monday 5 January 9am AEDT
Ep 5 - Thursday 8 January 9am AEDT
Cooked premiered on the ABC (Australia) in 2021, and we're honoured to release it to our audience at Grouse House.
Director's Statement (Jake Duczynski):
Cooked...is told from a collective Indigenous perspective. It doesn’t care for Cook’s famous story, but instead the residual legacy of the crown in the form of a curse. Cooked holds the mirror up and forces us to look.
COOKED:
Directed by Jake Duczynski
Written by Jake Duczynski & James Hackett
Featuring the voices of Steph Tisdell, Ross Noble, Megan Wilding, Hunter Page-Lochard, and Jake Duczynski.
'Cooked' is a Studio Gilay Production in association with Screen Australia, the Australian Broadcasting Network, and Create NSW.

As a non-Australian, seeing the instant negative reactions to anything pro-indigenous or anti-colonialiam is really really surprising and really really sad

most of the pro-indigenous stuff exaggerates their poor treatment and segregates them as a unique or special class instead of treating them like regular people and not making race the major focus of societal issues. Also the majority of those that claim to indigenous are whiter than most albinos you’ve met but want special treatment or benefits and to avoid the guilt based propaganda by being a “victim”

@@chaoz675 Personally I find it hard to say that their poor treatment is exaggerated when people came and were settled in their homeland, encroaching on their very existence.

@@chaoz675 maybe less aboriginal people would be light-skinned if the government hadnt forcefully assimilated aboriginal people into white families and colonies? or if colonisers and the government itself hadnt actively tried to ‘breed out’ dark-skinned people? food for thought! the push to equate one’s indigenous identity to their skin tone or ‘blood quantum’, aka. percentage of ‘white’ vs. ‘indigenous’ heritage, originates from efforts to effectively stamp out and eliminate aboriginal culture and communities. that’s how you end up with situations like in lutriwita/tasmania, where the myth that the palawa (aboriginal tasmanian) people were completely and entirely eliminated is constantly being spread. legally, mixed race aboriginal people over there weren’t considered aboriginal, allowing the government to be able to claim that there simply were no more aboriginal tasmanians, despite that being untrue. the cultural practices and knowledge of the palawa people was and is still being passed down and kept alive, and in the late 20th century was legally recognised again. this situation applies similarly to many aboriginal countries across australia, especially southeastern areas where colonisation efforts were more concentrated. i’m sorry for the wall of text, but this is an important topic and i feel like your comment was kind of disregarding an important part of australian history

Visually splendid, we have some truly amazing animators in Oz, but so little content to show for it. A difficult topic to address as more people now have opinions on the matter and despite the fact that their opinions don't matter, they continue to talk. I hope the series achieves its intentions without needing to get too heavy on us.
