5:16 the roman actually used swords with their shields, those "spears" actually were called pilum and they were thrown at the enemy front line as a javelin before engaging with their swords. they did use spears but not as he described it. 5:39 steel or iron swords are forged, not casted. melting changes the properties of the steel making it soft and bendable, for a sword you want the steel to return to its shape under stress so you want it to behave more like a spring, thats why you cant cast a steel or iron sword. if the sword breaks it can be forge welded or even forged in to a new sword, but never melted, anyway, a sword is more likely to bend rather than to break. Im 5 minutes in to this documentary and thats as far as Ill get

After the bronze age, swords, spesr points, arrows, etc were not cast. They were forged. Casting gives a shoddy result for iron and steel weapons

There is a colossal amount wrong with the narration of this documentary- only bronze swords were cast. The narration make it sound like steel swords were cast. Also a historian would say BCE not BC. Update, the experts didn’t QC this production - the producers clearly didn’t have a clue. The commentary is disjointed from the information - actually this is a terrible documentary - the garbled information makes for content of disinformation. The producers have tried to build a narrative, they failed. It’s so bad it should be removed and a Wikipedia article link be posted in its place. If you are interested in this subject then search for “The Metatron” channel. His content is detailed comprehensive and accurate. Forget this floundering heap of crap. Now, this show could be re-edited with new commentary and the medieval times crap removed as it’s bullshit.
