I bought while I took my BA in mathematics. It's a classic and can be used on any problem, but I think I bought it to late. I had already learned the tricks studying math at uni for a couple of years. I'm giving the book to my math-prodigy 15 yo son for his birthday soon. He has been picked out into a special program, where he travels the world learning math at special camps. His MSc math father, me, is extatic about it. On the long list of books I'm going to give him is also "Principles of mathematical analysis" by Walter Rudin, another classic, from which you can learn highschool calculus the proper way and more.

You can understand the problem and still not solve it. You may not understand it and solve it by some fluke. One may solve a problem by methods never used. The problem may not be solvable and one cannot assume that it is. A problem may have more than one solution and one finds only one of them. A problem may have a solution at infinity of it. A problem is put wrongly. Or there is no problem at all with the problem. OK guys! No problem.

You're spot on! Problems can be tricky things, like puzzles with all sorts of twists and turns. It's great to be reminded that there's not always a one-size-fits-all solution, and sometimes the best approach is just to keep an open mind and keep exploring. Thanks for the insightful breakdown!

It doesn't matter, this books almost include all the possible way to figure out the solution to any problem. What you said is about some possible sad truth of human understanding as we assume today, but doesn't mean it is true or false. And if you fall into it, it will leads to some endless depression and nothing else.

@@peterufrancess9344 Yes, The only truth that one can know is that there is no truth. I hope this will not make you fall into endless depression.
