I spend my days working on children’s books, working on my garden and loving on all my animals even my 16 chickens… it’s paradise!

For many years I've been visualizing Julian Assange walking free, back home in Australia with his family. So many people told me that that would never happen; the US won't tolerate their war crimes being exposed. They wanted to make an example of him. But now he IS free, and in his homeland! No TV here either. Not since 2000. I've never once missed having one. Didn't have one throughout much of my childhood either, thank goodness!

My Madge gets me up about 4.30am and I have to take her out for a walk, as I have no garden here. I try to thank the spirits I am up at this time, even though my body is still asleep really. I only go out of my rural home to walk Madge. I have no car. I LOVE nature, and am so thankful I live where I do, to not have any traffic passing. I know this world must influence the way I live in the price I am paying for my food delivery and bills I get, but I keep myself to myself. I do have a dominant person living nearby, who does effect me, but I try and keep myself to myself. xxx

Yes, yes and yes!!! I was just this last week volunteering at the botanical garden near me to pick invasive plants and clear paths in its wild area. Anyway before we started the organizer gathered us together and had us introduce ourselves, but then state "what we identify as" and "what pronouns we use" and I thought, "I'm just here to pick weeds and it's none of your business how I identify myself....and 'I don't care' about pronouns, call me by my name please". And I don't care. But if I had said that many would be just SOO offended at my honesty so I just ignored that part. But all these new semantic labels and titles and terms these days become such a silly focus and draw away energy from actual important things and I can't keep up and I just don't care! In one of the Sherlock Holmes stories, Watson is aghast that Holmes doesn't know some current sensational news story and he replies that he does not waste any space in his precious brain on meaningless clutter. He "didn't care." A Conan Doyle, as so often, was ahead of his time. .....Boy Colette you hit on something today with your "I don't care" observations/celebrations!!! Amen! from a person who could not care less what pronouns anyone uses about him!

I do not watch the news nor keep up with what is going on in the world. It’s all I can do to keep up with the little microcosm of the endless universe I find myself in. I do, however, send out prayers for all and wish everyone and everything wellness and peace. I am as authentically me as I can be; as I know to be if that makes sense. Always in a state of evolution over here as things fall away that no longer fit or have purpose. Gosh, I have so much more peace and grounding. I don’t know if I’m an empath or not. So many things I see and hear that are unjust, cruel and inhumane, the things I have no control over, truly upset me. I’ve basically stopped watching tv shows and the national news. I do what I can when I can and try to remember that I can’t do everything. I have removed myself as much as possible except for a few friends and family. My world is my home and my pets.

I don't know if it's that we're the same age, but I feel almost exactly like you do. I don't watch TV. I feel we have too much information. I've, in some ways, shrunk and simplified my world, which helps me focus and not hurt so much due to my empathic nature. Less for me is more.

Just love the look Patsy was giving you at the beginning of this video. It was like she understood and was soaking in your wisdom. The upward snaggletooth is precious. Yesterday evening, I was driving home from my 4mo old chihuahua puppy’s class and a beat up old minivan flew past me as if floating on waves (probably due to the speed and some overdue suspension work). A little boy in the back was waving his hand out the window catching the wind. Across the back in large stick on letters it said, “Let that shit go”. I thought to myself, I sure wish that it was just that easy❤️🐕🐕

Dear Colette, Learning to live without giving a damn for the machinations of the outside world is the only way to live as otherwise that way lies madness if you arent careful. There is now so much misery, disaster, hate, division and intolerance in the world that shielding yourself from the majority of it is incredibly important. I try to be a vocal and empathetic part of the things that I am passionate about but have learned to let go of the things over which I now realise I can never hope to have any control. I have found great joy in my home and my garden and have created my own sanctuary, my own little bubble of bliss. I have found real happiness in just being me. I can care about things, and I do. Sometimes to the point that it makes me upset to see what is going on . I have learned (or at still trying to) that there are things I cannot change and are not mine to change. I learned there are things I can't be bothered with. My life is much more serene now. I do what I can do and what I need to do.

I live by the acronym IDGAF. Same thing same opinion and feelings.

My saying is, I don't give a monkeys. Being in my seventies now it's easy.. I've turned into my grannie she was real and told it like it was.❤.. I know exactly where you are coming from , i dont watch or read any mainstream media , and i dont care a jot what anyone thinks of me , i dont hurt anyone , iam pretty much a recluse i feed my wild birds and look after my pets , and the only journey i ever do is the 120 mile round trip to my daughters to see her and my grankids , unfortunately we think differently about the state of the world so its not talked about .

We have 2 tv's, 1 in the dining room & 1 in the lounge. My husband works away during the week & when he leaves at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon, i ask him to turn the telly off. It does not get switched on again until he walks through the door at 9pm Thursday evening. If i was on my own, i definitely would not own or want a tv. Thank you as alway's for such an interesting vlog xx

Thanks, in terms of self preservation, mental health care, we can only do what we can do and protect ourselves as best we can, being unwell and healing, bulbs planted in early year are flowering now and how they enliven my mood, the most simple things - that so many people do without thought - believe me when I say that those simple things are truly the most important when the body is not working properly, thanks as per and keep safe

Hello Colette from our farm in New Hampshire. So so true! The outside world can take you over if you are not careful to cultivate your own niche. I love creating niches for myself. Some are friends who share common likes, such as organic gardening, sewing and art. At 74 , I had better decide and act upon my health and well being. Yes I share what I feel I can afford both in goods, services and relationships, however, I need to nourish my inner self and physical self in order to be be of any use to myself and others. They say the secret is to only worry about that which one can change, that which one can influence. This modern life brings us news from everywhere, tragic stories, rarely ever anything positive, and most of all - barely anything we can do anything about. I don't believe to be totally blind to the world, and democracy brings the responsibility to know something about those who present themselves as leaders, but beyond that, it is just too much, it drains us of the energy we need to make a positive difference where we actually are, and where we, as individuals, truly matter. Very hard to stick to that though. I keep reminding myself, yet all too often fail. Got no TV either, but computer is not much different these days, and I do have a computer -.-

After an afternoon of sweating it out in my woodland garden, I've come in to relax and watch you. I am loving your blue outfit; very stylish. I've been watching way less news -- it's too depressing and dreadul. At this point in life, I just want to enjoy the moments of each day. x
