Definitely an Underrated & Under-appreciated film that was suck in developmental hell for years, it should be lucky that it was even finished at all without getting cancelled before it had a chance to air, yet it's own distributor did it dirty and it never got the chance to become a big smash hit like other Dreamworks films did.

The character art is cute. I might get the book. The movie was very on beat to “Save the Cat” plot diagram. It was good for kids not so much for adults. Looking at the art book now, the film reminds me of Turning Red. I didn’t even think that when I saw the movie

Perhaps, but underwater world are very mesmerizing! I just happened to like octopus mermaid ("Cecealia/Cilophyte"). There were a few minor subverted expectations. Ruby herself is very charming in general. The animation is also quite attractive.

For sure! I got the art book and I enjoy it. It probably won't be in print for long though (the Bad Guys was out of print by summer of 2023--less than a year)@@goteamslugs
