What a great book. I am fascinated by oil paintings and this book has some wonderful eye candy and inspiration. Lots of generally-applicable art technique too, with respect to color and composition. 😊

What a stunningly beautiful book! The painting of the bowl of figs with that gold bowl and the kitchen set-up with the wooden spoon were my favorites. I might have to get this one. I love reading about traditional techniques. I'm currently reading a marvelous biography on Leonardo da Vinci and was surprised to find that a lot of his techniques had been compiled from his notebooks and included. Thank you for sharing this book 🙂 have a lovely weekend.

It is indeed a beautiful book! You mentioned that oil painting looks complex. It might actually be easier. I recall reading somewhere that an artist opted for oil because it’s easier than watercolours. I think that was a reply to one of my comments on a KZfaqvideo.

That’s interesting! My mum paints in oils and I just find it incredibly complicated. 😅🧡

@@AlyonasWatercolourCreations Wow! You’re all artists 😄. I know what you mean by oils being intimidating. But I think I’d like to give oil-painting techniques a go one day, perhaps using gouache. I understand some universities during exams give their students gouache instead of oil paints since gouache dries quickly. It makes sense, imagine an exam session that lasts several months while the oil dries 😂.
