This idea that puberty blockers didn't exist in the past so why do we need it now, is like saying we don't need cancer treatment because we lived without it in the past. Sometimes, taking something away is worse than having never had it. The 80s, 90s, 00s were a time when "man in a dress" jokes were rife. Surviving was the task. And treatment in adolescence for many people felt like a pipe-dream. Having actually felt the some of that positive change only to have it snatched away is beyond cruel in my opinion. If I had a trans kid I would be leaving the country as we speak.

Talkin' round the houses these two or WHAAAT! 🤔 If someone is already on a hormonal or hormonal blocker (means to an end) medication, NO WAY they should suddenly be deprived of it!! Personally I opted for three monthly di-peptyl injections for two years to further my treatment. The injections are used to reduce the hormonal function of certain Cancer sufferers originally ie. regarding the Prostate gland. These injections stop all hormones from respective cis gender patients and the desired gender hormone is then prescribed so there is no hormonal battle raging in said patients thus relieving dysphoria. That's the theory. It certainly worked okay with me. Years of never ending hanging around for physical and psychological change was achieved in just a few months. Saying all that, I am not a pre-pubescent minor but as far as medical safety goes for such treatments I believe it's safe, that is from my own experience. To me the real issue or question that this podcast raises is.. Are these people calling the shots pushing them for medical reasons or for political ones? I suspect it's the latter. Ohh, and another thing, as for the opinion that there has suddenly been a rise in numbers of trans-gender dysphoric individuals in recent years due to there being more diversity..? What utter poppycock! There have always been people of that ilk and number through the ages, they literally had two choices.. Live in denial or in secret (Cripes! What killed England's game was the desire to keep kicking long during goal kicks, which clearly wasn't working but the team persisted with it anyway. We gave away so much possession from these goal kicks. This may have been part of the strategy that Southgate had before the game, but it clearly wasn't something that changed after Cole Palmer's goal.

They were concerned about bias, so they excluded experts (yet included people with known anti-trans politics). What other medical review has ever excluded experts? Would you trust a review of a heart medication that excluded all cardiologists from producing the review?

That's not true. The Cass Review had input from 102 professionals, including GPs, paediatricians, psychiatrists and psychologists, including a Gender Specialist. Over half of these professionals rated themselves as on the more gender-affirmative side of spectrum. The fact the other contingent defined themselves as more cautious on gender-affirmation isn't a conspiracy, but their considered medical opinion. Personally, I'd want a consultant to exercise some skepticism before artificially arresting a tween's natural puberty for purely psychological reasons. God forbid you say that to a member of the Novarati tho', they'll want to take your kids away.

Stopping a 6yo from having precocious puberty until an age appropriate for their growth, and stopping a 11 yo from having a normal puberty at the appropriate age so that they can have it when they are almost adults, is not the same and doesn't have the same effects on the body or mind. As for cancer, it's a ridiculous argument considering most of the therapies available are "let's destroy your cells and hope the cancer gets destroyed as well". There isn't a single medication that you could sell me by saying "they use it for cancer too".

Policy hasn't altered, legal challenges to arrest of Netanyahu are still being backed, Labour's cabinet is stacked with candidates amenable to the interests of Labour Friends of Israel. Palestine has not been recognised by Labour nor will it be. Labour had already called for a ceasefire publicly but they did so four months months after the genocide had been initiated. In private Labour are continuing to back arms sales to Israel and are not placing any material financial or legal pressure on Israel to alter their policy. I do think we have to be careful of private (for-profit) providers and what are still unproven medications not just according the cass review but Swedish, Finnish, French... medical academies and researchers. It would be nice for you to interview some people that are not just private providers. I"m not a fan of streeting at all, and an outright ban is not what the cass review said either, but can we please stop pretending this issue, as it relates to drugs, puberty, science, health, private-health industries, and many more players.... isn't more complex

Its pretty simple for trans youth, I can reassure you. They want to be listened to, they want the right to block puberty if they wish to give them time to consider their options. Also puberty blockers are already used safely on kids for precocious puberty and cancer.

Nah you're not allowed to have a nuance approach with complex things like this Either your 100% onboard with for profit companies & activists or you're a bigot Just remember to ignore historical examples such as for profit companies lying about research with smoking once considered safe & burning fossil fuels had no impact on the environment according to the science Or more applicable long term health side affects not being known until later See asbestos or radium both perfectly safe so long as you don't look beyond a decade

He got very defensive about the suggestion that political violence by the left should be as much as 11% of overall political violence. Tbh, I would expect it to be more given the old adage that politics is a sport for the wealthy but life or death for the poor. Which side is more likely to think "if things don't change, I'm screwed!"? So I don't trust that statistic in that I expect the percentage that is left is probably higher. Then again, Americans have strange ideas about what right and left mean.
