I think I like Dark Academia and being tricked too, hrmmm....I didn't really think this series could be for me but now I might give it a try.

I read the most part of the first one, and it didn’t really deliver on the dark academia for me, at least not in the way i expected. I would say, if you are fine with more serious/violent themes (and actually, check out a trigger list), read ninth house, and if you already have, the sequel hell bent just came out two days ago, i already read it, it is totally solid, and really the series did deliver the feeling a lot more with the setting. Its really fast paced too, i read the 450 pages (in English, which isn’t my first language) in less then one and a half days.

I have not read The Atlas Six, but it is on my TBR list. So, one day.

This is a book i did not finish, i quit about 60-70 percent through, because i just didn’t really like any of the characters, and i did read this with the promise of a solid magic system and dark academia flair, and neither was true. I do study a stem subject, maybe that’s why. But also, this books kinda fails to address the question “why is society the same with that form of sci-fi magic?”, which .. is just a specific pet-peeve foe me. The characters somehow were very annoying and stuck to their stereotypes, and …i need to care about at least one to keep reading. Also, the reading experience was AWFUL. I did read ninth house right before, which - in the sense of sentences, words used, pace of dialogue - was just a smooth and comfortable experience, The Atlas Six was NOT. I really am tempted tho to try again, with the second book being out. But if its really that slow again, i will save my money c: Thank you for the review!
