My friend had an autolock for his '85 toyota pickup, and it kept the truck from being stolen countless times. We were at costco, and when we came out, the door was ajar, and the lowlife that tried to steal the truck tried to twist the the device sideways. It was on the pedal so tight it ended up bending the pedal to the side slightly😆😆😆 Definitely an anti-theft device that Actually works! He was so relieved when he finally sold the truck, and bought something far less desirable to thieves. I've had mine since they first started advertising them on TV, I bought it the next day, and it's still going strong. Love this device! I'm planning on buying another one for my other car.

I remember these that came out in the mid 2000 or early 2000s and I had purchased one for my 1995 Honda accord coupe, one of the most stolen cars at that time. I still remember saving up to buy one, it was like $100, which was a lot of money for a high schooler. Good old memories

I have used the same one on at least three different vehicles. I know they work because someone broke into my one muscle car and couldn't get it off. And on another car that had been broken into - it as well had been tampered with and they couldn't get it off. I bought mine in 1980 for 85$ CDN and still use it today on my just purchased vehicle.

This seems to be better than a lot of the steering wheel locks.

I've owned mine for years, and that was a great demonstration. Demonstrating how you can sit in the vehicle and attach it would be good to because people who are not familiar without easy it goes on and off can't put two and two together to save their lives, let alone save their vehicles because any vehicle that doesn't have this particular lock on it is asking to get their car stolen. I swear by this lock. In fact my brother asked me what's a good lock to put on my vehicle, and I directed him to your video. I have no doubt this is the best lock on the market versus a steering lock only. Granted it can't hurt to have a steering lock as well because it's more of a deterrent, and most thieves will just walk away. If they do manage to get into your vehicle and then they see that on your pedal, you know damn well they're leaving without your vehicle! Thank you for that excellent demonstration😊

Yes those are very good devices to have for sure! If the vehicle had a manual transmission then you would hook that device up to the clutch pedal. Both of those pedals are made of steel and nobody is going to want to cut through either one of those pedals as they are both crucial to the operation of the vehicle.

So the end doesn’t lock onto the steering wheel in any way?
@malmal905

It really doesn't matter. You still wouldn't be able to use the brakes. Who driving without brakes.

@GaryRinaldi You can also install it on the clutch pedal as well since 99% of cars with a manual transmission needs the clutch depressed to the floor in order to start it. If You want serious overkill, You can install one on each pedal. But that probably won't be necessary. I've had mine for 20yrs, and used it on basically every car I've owned since I bought it in '00: Manual & automatic transmissions, that old autolock has kept many different cars from being stolen. It's simple, reliable, and just works. Best $40 I've spent(how much I paid for it new)

I have been using this lock for more than 15years... there's a con to this lock "there are some vehicles out there with thick steel shaft for brake pedal, and the lock cannot fit"....

I know the feeling. I have the 2020 Toyota Corolla Hatchback and the brake peddle bar is so thick that the lock will not fit. Now I'm waiting for my 2023 Toyota Cross to come in and i hope my lock will fit on that one. Keep finger crossed.

It can be defeated. Only slows down the thief. I had this and the club for the steering wheel on my Trailblazer. It was still stolen and stripped.

@@uraigroves7898 I don’t know how it was removed. Either it was picked, lock drilled, or cut off. If it this and the steering wheel club were 100% effective, this wouldn’t have happened. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ebiEprljqqzaXas.html

@@uraigroves7898 There are a couple of different ways. Same for the steering wheel devices and for the wheel boots. Just search for you tube videos about anti car theft reviews. They will also tell you that the most effective deterrent is a fuel pump Kill Switch, that you can pretty much install yourself. Costs about $30!

This thing was the BEST $60 I have ever spent. I use it every single day without slacking. I have a Hyundai and the losers who keep trying to steal my car (bust my windows, break my door locks) can’t take that care ANYWHERE because of this lock. I will rave about it every chance I get.

They could drill out the lock with a cordless drill in about 5 seconds most likely. I’ve made my own brake pedal lock which is pretty much foolproof. It uses 2 secret methods to unlock it which no one knows.

No actually the type of metal in the locking section cannot be simply drilled out because of the type of metal used. Neither can it be cracked by putting a screwdriver into the key slot and hammering it. That I know someone tried and they did fail. I still use it today some 43 years after I purchased it.

@@robertkartechner5850 All metal can be drilled out. But it would be good if some locks have a very hard steel instead of cheap stuff. An option can be to put the lock facing forward so they can’t get the drill in but that makes it a bit more difficult to install and remove. They can also use a hacksaw to cut the steering wheel. It would take about 30 seconds to do that.

Some locks can be frozen with a spray used for electronics. I tried it and it did not crack. The lock assembly where the key goes in is high tensile steel (I'm not sure what it is, I don't think it is titanium.) My friend and I tried to drill one out and the high strength drill bit didn't budge it.) Honest. It took us some twenty five minutes to finally figure out a way to get into it. I don't think the average thief will want to play around that long. They got pissed off and cut my tires but I still had the car. Insurance paid for the tires entirely for me so I was happy. The main shaft of it where you could possibly cut it to slide it off the pedal took us some 45 minutes between us to almost cut it through - - we gave up. Also, this goes under the brake or clutch pedal and pulls up to draw around it. It is one of the best one's I have ran across. I got it in 1980 and it has saved at least two of my cars. I don't know if the ones out now are all the same materials but mine , although not completely fool proof, will make them take so long they won't want to stick around and play with it. It cost me 85$ CDN back then and it is the best money I've spent on any device.@@aussie8114

@@robertkartechner5850 Titanium is actually a soft metal. But there are other metals and treated metals that are very hard compared to a drill bit. I use to have a steering lock that went down to the pedal many years ago, not sure what happened to that one. I have a Club steering lock that I occasionally put on my older car if I park it in a shitty area but I recognise its more a visual deterrent. I bought a new CX-5 a few months ago, $60,000 so I have done a few extra security things for it. I’ve wired up a seperate sealed lead acid battery to a driver side door plunger switch and 2 latching relays so if anyone opened the drivers door while that alarm is on they will get deafened from 2 very loud piezo sirens inside the car that will latch on. I’ve also made my own brake pedal lock which I guarantee no thief will ever be able to get off. It uses hidden security head bolts and 2 steel pins that need a magnet to extract. Takes me 90 seconds to install or remove. I’ve also put a steel plate over the cars computer port. I’ve also disabled the key fob from sending out a signal constantly. I just have to use the buttons on the side of the key fob to unlock the car. I need to press the cars start button with the key fob touching it, I think the car reads a chip in the key fob. That part is a bit of a nuisance compared to just pressing the start button with my finger but no big deal.
