This scene is an absolute heartbreaking but not for me only. It was for Patrick Mcnee and Diana Rigg too who, just after this scene, cried each on their own . The end of a wonderful chemistry.

Watching this today on the day Diana Rigg died has left me with a few tears in my eyes. RIP Mrs Peel.

The only time in the series, I believe when he calls her "Emma" instead of "Mrs.Peel."

Patrick and Diana had a once in a lifetime chemistry. You cannot "act" or "fake" the sexual chemistry these two had. They loved each other in real life and you can take that how you want. Nobody will be able to successfully reboot this series because nobody can recreate Patrick and Diana.

This scene never fails to make me sad...very sad. The only "cure" is to restart the series from the beginning.

I can't think of what to see at this time beyond that Diana Riggs passing sure makes me think about my personal mortality. Diana Rigg stood with Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly as far as screen elegance. I can offer no greater compliment.

I just turned 60 and still have a teenage crush on Mrs Peel.

This scene is actually quite moving.

The moment I saw the thumbnail for this clip I remembered vividly the line from Emma peel about him liking his tea stirred anti clockwise even though I have not seen this episode for more than 50 years. It is amazing how small moments can stay in the mind.

One cannot say Rest in Peace for Diana Rigg, as she truly was Emma Peel and Emma would never rest.

A sad day for TV, and especially 12-yr old boys. Nobody beat up bad guys like Mrs. Peel...

This whole scene is a master piece! Yes Steed, she was into you😥 His face when he see's what her husband looks like and carries himself. Fantastic!

Goodbye Emma and thank you. Thank you for lighting up my childhood. Thank you for staying forever lovely. You will always be one of the great beacons of that sixties era, Making the decade fun and stylish. And your magic never stopped, never went away, never faded. The story may be done, but the love will never be.

What an amazing final scene. I can;t believe they wrote this as well as they did. And the actors nailed it. Like they usually did.

I remember when I watched this moment the first time how emotional it was. It's even more emotional today.

It's still a great scriptwriter's idea to let Mr Peel be a twin of Steed 😄

I rarely watch this episode. In reality, Di Rigg was already gone and this transitional installment was put in to explain the hand off to Tara. I have read where some people praise this final scene, and while I do appreciate what little emotional morsel fans got, I always felt it was woefully short of expressing their true bond. Anyway, her final look back says to me "I'll be with him but I'll be thinking about you." And thus launched a thousand fanfics. 😄

Utterly heartbroken as a kid when she left the show!

Geez....I remember watching this episode on a Friday night, I was 11 years old. I knew that was the last episode with Mrs Peel. I still remember the lump in my throat as I had to work hard not to cry, I had that big a crush on her.

Can't believe there were some on social media who had never heard of this legend.

I was 10 when the last episode with Emma Peel aired...like many, I was in love with her & to see that departure, it felt like the end of a real relationship. I truly felt so heartbroken for awhile...What a woman she was. When I saw this clip recently, I relived the whole experience again. Can't believe she made such a great impression!!!

This is the first time I've seen this in nearly 50 years (and the first time I've ever seen it in colour). I'm amazed at how many details of this scene I remembered, considering I was only 13 at the time. I guess it's because I had a huge crush on Diana Rigg (there have never been a sexier pair of eyes on TV). Ah memories! I feel sorry for Linda Thorson -- how does anyone follow up Diana Rigg?

There is no words to describe Miss Emma Peel that lady was so classy and not only that she was an icon during the TV's show The Avengers and John steed both Legends forever

The Avengers series ran for years and Emma Peel was only in it for 2 (1965-67) but she and Steed are the only characters I remember. They were great friends in real life too. He was 45 and Rigg was 29 when this last episode was shot.

Loved the Avengers from its origins of live black and white with Honor Blackman until this last scene with Emma I just saw an interview with him much later. He was full of praise for her but regretted the way she was treated by then male producers

I wish someone would release a Blu-Ray boxed set. I have a few DVD's but not the entire series. What fun watching this as a teen in the 60's. Love it even more today. And it saddens me to learn Dame Rigg has passed away.

This scene is still one of the most painful. The end of an era. The last chapter of a great epic myth. They prepared us for this with the episode "The Forget-Me-Knot" - Almost like telling us: Wake up from the delicious dream!

Emma Peel was my first crush, and after all these years The Avengers is still my favorite tv show. I have two complete DVD sets of The Avengers with Mrs. Peel.

She has made her final exit.

I actually think Tara was a good successor. A lot of people don't think that. But Emma Peel was just so astounding.

So she leaves with her husband--who looks just like Steed.Brilliant.

Rip avengers you were one of my first tv shows i watched.

I won't say rest in peace, I will say Diana you are needed.

I remember watching that scene (late night re-runs in my country). They just re-ran with Diana Rigg Playing Emma. There can only be one and only. She was dynamite.

I loved watching The Avengers. I was young, 6 years old but I remember Steed and Mrs. Peel! Diane Rigg played a good part in TGOT too.

Diana Rigg gave this series an excellent run and was a major reason for its success. However, realistically, she had much more to offer as an actress and was wise to move on to bigger projects. As for me, when she left the series I stopped watching. I do however watch the Avengers on DVD all the time.

She was great!
