It was a time of brilliant aeronautical invention, turbulent love affairs and savage corporate battles. Prepare yourself for the ride of a visionary lifetime.

Baldwin was sooo underrated in this movie. Leo got most of the acclaim, and rightfully so, he was masterful as Hughes. But Baldwin's portrayal of Tripp was simply sublime, a slimy, yet cool and in control businessman. Just perfect.

But also respectful. The best part about this scene is the end, where Tripp turns to Noah Dietrich (portrayed masterfully by John C. Reilly) and tries to persuade him to get Howard to settle. He tells him "America shouldn't see him like that. They should remember him for the man he was." GREAT SCENE. Well acted all the way around.

0:32 - That statement always bothers me. The share price is irrelevant without knowing the number of shares outstanding. TWA could be worth ten times Pan Am even if its share price is half that of Pan Am's, simply because there are more shares of TWA than of Pan Am. Presumably, Trippe knows the market cap of both companies, but his statement doesn't make any sense.
@broadstreet21
@broadstreet21 7 ай бұрын
Imagine though, if Trippe actually succeeded in buying out TWA, his company might still be alive today. They would have had the domestic routes to remain solvent. Considering Pan Am never had domestic routes, it's a wonder they remained competitive. Did they post higher revenues than TWA?
