this song actually got to me, i work with cold case files of unidentified individuals, some unidentified from way before i was even born, but this case im working with rn is pulling my heartstrings, a unidentified little girl, no older then one year old pulled from the lake last year, yet she remains unidentified still, just a tiny little thing and im working to find her family

i love the irony that this song is called a ballad and a ballad is a song that tells a story, while shes asking about what her story was in the song, this is much more like a lament than noels song which ironically was more like a ballad than janes song

This feel like she's a soul filled with sorrow and rage begging the heavens to tell her why her life ended so quickly

The lower tone makes it so much more raw. Like that first "and i'm asking why lord" hit me in the GUT

Is actually reminded me of a tabletop character that ive had in my back pocket for years. In fantasy settings they are a changeling, in scifi they are cybernetically augmented to be able to become anyone. But whatever the setting, the story is the same. They have worn so many masks and become so many people, lived so many lives, that they have forgotten who they are originally, even their original name is lost. They are simply Doe, not John or Jane Doe, because even gender is lost to them.

I don't know much about music, but I know that Justine has some great flexibility and control over her voice to sing well in so many different styles that require different techniques.

This was STUNNING! The “time eats all his children in the end” part was chilling! It was like a mixture of Jane Doe feeling a sense of loathing and lost! It took my breath away! I also like how you fixed the song to match your range. Not only did it give it a whole different vibe, but it also gave the whole aspect of Jane Doe’s character a different light! Absolutely amazing!

It's a complete wonder why they didn't go for mezzo soprano originally, it sounds so much more like Jane Doe is in anguish over not knowing who she is. You did amazing and I can finally sing this as well. Thank you for your rendition and making it a lower octave.
