This was the first animatic that made me genuinely feel bad for Sarah Berry. The way you showed her boyfriend and how they were happy, but then he ended up leaving her. And with her friends and squad. The end with Julie grinning in a sinister way was only an extra punch. This is Damn

1:08 and 2:12 I love the parallels between these two scenes. Also, in my opinion, I think that Sara was Julie's bully and Julie had hoped for the day she could ruin Sara's school and social life. Now I'm not saying the crash was intentional, but once Julie started being voted for prom queen she probably started planning her revenge on Sara. As a bully victim myself I would have loved the chance to get back at my bully, but anyways I believe that Julie's revenge was only supposed to ruin Sara's school/social life not drive her insane. There is no way Julie could have known that Sara would have gone insane and even if she did plan her revenge it isn't her fault that Sara was (clearly) mentally troubled. Nor is it Julie's fault that Sara was probably going untreated for any mental illnesses she had. If anything its Sara's father who pushed his daughter and refused to recognize that something was wrong with her. Now as for Julie's smile at the end, that was probably a "you got what you deserved" smile. Since Julie probably liked the thought of Sara going to jail, even if her plan didn't go as expected.

I really really want to know what the 6 girls did to spite Sara so much? My personal headcanon is that Sara loves symbolism so- P - Patricia was one of her ex-friends who started the rumour that she was "socially dead" and thus, she was killed by poison in order to silence her - serves her right for poisoning the school with her lies. R - Raquel was the unpopular, smart girl who was best friends with Julie and she was the one who stood up to Sara, probably making some kind of diss against her intellect, cuz stereotypical stereotypes stereotyping stereotypically. Thusly, Sara decided the only way to honour the intellect of such a mind is to expose it to the world. Shame Sara took it literally. O - Anne was frenemies with Sara (like a Season 1 Gossip Girl Blaire and Serena situation) and she was the one who poisoned Sara's bf against her, encouraging him to take Julie. Thus, for her role as the brain in masterminding the situation, Sara whacked hers out. M - Marianna was Sara's best friend that knew all her personal secrets and vulnerabilities (Think Gretchen to Regina just closer) but while Sara was falling from grace, Marianna decided it was her time for the spotlight, and sped up the process by exposing her secrets. Sara spilled her guts to Marianna, but she couldn't help hers to herself. Q - Kiara was the quiet, socially awkward kid who ran the Prom Royalty elections. She did nothing wrong but that's not what it looks like to Sara. After all, how could she lose to a legless nobody? Poor Kiara died as she lived, quiet and ignored. U - Eunice was the school's gossip curator. She's the first one to know if a person sneezes funny, and the only one with the reach to orchestrate a social media wide support for Julie, and the impending nasty nasty dethronement of Sara Berry. Everyone constantly saw Eunice for the latest gossip, but now the last time they had seen her would always haunt them forever. when people say social media takes a piece of you, they probably did not expect this.

I honestly feel bad for her even though it’s ridiculous to. She has the visions of her winning and just dancing with her boyfriend. She was pushed to be perfect, and I feel like she would have been nice, and a genuine person if her parents didn’t pressure her so much. :/

This is the first time I’ve seen someone secretly depict Julie as malicious, and that she “intended” for Sara to lose it. Props to you!!

Here’s how I’m interpreting this: Sara was seemingly perfect and was obsessed with becoming prom queen and one of the girls she bullied, Julie Jinkens, decided to take a little advantage of her amputated leg for her to win prom to send a “f you” to Sara. What Julie DIDNT know was Sara’s parents treatment of her and how far she would go to get the prom queen crown. After the dust settled she looked at her former bullies old posters when it hit her: thanks to her Sara wasn’t able to hurt anyone anymore and now could have EVERYTHING Sara had. Would Julie become like Sara? That’s up for you to decide.

I love how this is just one song from a musical that everyone is obsessed with but by reading the comments i can tell many of you havent listened to the musical. if by any chance you wanna listen to the whole musical its called 35mm and it has a lot of gems. my fav from that musical rn is leave luanne. like seriously i recommend you listen to it its really good. in case you will be confused while listening to: a mans husband has taken may different photographs and that man has written songs based on them so the whole musical is basically that each song is a different story based on a photograph... i hope you understood english isnt my first language :)

Welcome to Animatic Review. The series where I review animatics with a critical, unbiased lens, and maybe even give some constrictive criticism so the creator can go on and make their work even better. (Keep in mind that I am in no way a professional, and that others will inevitably have different thoughts than the ones I have). Okay, let's get into it. Sorry for the length. I had a lot to say about this one. To start off with the good things. This is an absolutely beautiful animatic, and easily one of, if not the best, of the Ballad of Sara Berry animatics here on KZfaq. The art style is unique, going for a more semi-anime style, which really makes it stand out against the others of its kind. The color palette is beautifully fitting, using shades of red and white at the beginning, with the whites changing to blacks and the reds used purely for outlines and the blood splats, which puts much more emphasis on the color red, the color of blood, as well as showing how Sara has snapped, now keeping the original red and white palette for what's happening inside Sara's mind, to contrast Sara's beautiful fantasies, and a dark reality, and this is seemlessly integrated with the transition of the events before the mirror smash, and the mirror smash itself, from red and white, to grey with red outlines, and to black with red outlines after Sara's mind breaks completely. And the cinematography seems like a mix of the best shots of other animatics, such as the glass breaking shot, as well as a lot of original stuff, and it benefits the video amazingly well, feeling like a perfect blend of old and new. But, of course, nothing is perfect. The big problem with this for me that stops this animatic from being perfect is the ending; the revelation that Julie Jenkins wasn't nearly as innocent as she was letting on, singing the last bit of the song. There are multiple questionable things wrong with this ending. Julie singing the last bit of the song with an evil grin on her face implies that she had a hand in the creation of the entire song, if not her being the sole hand that wrote it. This is odd, because this song has a whole segment where the singers glorify Sara's murdering of 6 teenage girls, telling in detail with glee in their voices how she killed all of them. This introduces a confusing concept of Julie wanting Sara to kill all the other prom queen nominees, and gaining great joy from it happening. Yes, Julie wasn't winning very fairly, gaining an incredible, long-lasting lead out of pity votes, but wanting to drive a rival insane and get her to kill all of the other rivals is a huge leap from just taking advantage of her bad situation, even if that advantage was an unfair one. Heck, this demented version of Julie even makes you wonder if the wreck that cost her a leg was even an accident in the first place, which could be considered a thing the animatic does well, but within the current context, I don't. And if this is all true, if this version of Julie really did intentionally cause some sort of wreck where she had to have her leg amputated so she could get a bunch of pity votes, drive Sara Berry insane, and get her to kill all the other nominees, there has to be a part where her motive(s) is explained, and if she doesn't have a motive, and she's just doing it because she gets sick kicks out if it, than that has to be explained as well. And since the fact that this animatic is based around a song from a musical with no sequel, it probably would've been for the best if the whole "Julie was evil the whole time" thing was cut, since there was no real way for Julie's motives to be properly explained. But don't get me wrong, even though I do have problems with it, I still think that this was one of, if not the best, Ballad of Sara Berry animatics on KZfaq, and if jeniferl sees this, I hope that, if anything, they take it as constructive criticism and it helps them with making their future projects even better. Overall score: 4/5 🌟 Almost perfect, but it did kind of trip at the end EDIT: Spelling

Ngl,I really like the last scene where Julie is just smiling evilly.The people who state that Julie purposely did this to make Sara kill people are totally wrong.I mean imagine being Julie,you just lost your leg in a car accident and the queen bee continues to bully you.Not to mention she acts even more bitchy towards you after you lost a leg,you would feel pretty shitty right? I believe the smirk at the end is more of "that bitch fucking deserved it."

Says a lot that Sara's confidence totally evaporates and she gets really nervous whenever her dad shows up.

I watched this so many times, and I’ve just realized that when Sara’s father comes into the scene, you have her whip around in the same pose both times; the first time she looks more composed, and the second when she’s breaking down. I think that’s a really nice touch!!
