In 1928, Antonia Mercé, La Argentina, marked a milestone in the history of dance in Paris. Her Ballets Espagnols premiered two historic ballets: Sonatina, by Ernesto Halffter, and El contrabandista [The smuggler], by Óscar Esplá (a work still unpublished). Based on the original sketches of the costumes and backdrops, this production updates the best of Spanish ballet during the Silver Age, which left such a mark on the European cultural scene.

Ballet in one act on his own plot inspired by the homonymous poem by Rubén Darío. Inspired by the costumes of Federico Beltrán Masséses and the scenography of Mariano Andreu for the 1929 revival.
