This year 2022 is the 300 year anniversary of the Ballinasloe Stock Horse Fair. Over the years it has become one of the largest fairs in Western Europe. In the nineteen century it was not unusual for upwards of 50 000 sheep and 6000 head of cattle to change hands at the fair. Today it is renowned for the wide variety of horses and ponies for sale.
