This is definitely a great nod to Canada's musical heritage with Neil, Joni Mitchell and of course Robbie Robertson present. This was a reminder of how extensive Robbie's career was and unfortunately how we have lost another Canadian icon along with Gordon Lightfoot with their recent passing. Love the reaction Rory and along with how you seem to continually spotlight Canadian talent and content.

Neil Young was born in Toronto, but he grew up in my home city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Bob Dylan visited one tome wanting to see Neal’s boyhood home.

Robbie wrote in his book "when Neil entered the stage I knew no one at Winterland was feeling better than Neil".

There is something special about hearing Neil sing about your home province in the first line of a song. As RobertT said, always showcasing Canadian talent.

What was it Neil Young said at the start ? Oh yes , its one of the pleasures of my life to be able to be on this stage with these people tonight ! Neil Young is one of the most celebrated Rock musicians ...ever... and even he was in awe of The Band ! Praise and admiration of the highest quality .

The Last Waltz was wonderful. Neil Young, The Band and Joni Mitchell; some of Canada's finest. Neil never sold out. Some of his lyrics: "Aint singin' for Pepsi, aint singin' for Coke, I don't sing for nobody makes me look like a joke." From his song "This Note's for You."

Thanks, that was great. Neil and the Band together. The band was so heavily respected by musicians. All Canadians including Joni Mitchell other than drummer Levon Helm.

This video is like a bandage on a wound for me , everything is so perfect, the song, the pleasure they have being together, the magical voice of Neil Young and the angelic voice of Joni Mitchell, which we only sees the silhouette... And thanks to Scorcese who captured all this magic!!! Great video, Great reaction! THANKS

I love Rick Danko. I don't know if you saw The Last Waltz, but it was heartbreaking to me at the end. Scorsese was interviewing each of them after their farewell concert was over, asking about their future plans. Rick just kind of plaintively said he didn't know what his plans were, he just wanted to be in the band and play music with the guys (not a direct quote, but that was the feel of it based on my memory). He just wanted to keep playing in the band with his friends. Yeah, it was sad.

I think the truth is a little more complicated. At another interview he said he wanted to do something on his own for ahwile. In the early eighties 4 of The Band members did perform at several venues (without Robertson) there are some video's here on Utube. They were pretty good, especially Rick singing "A long Black Veil". They all manage to do something after The Band broke up. Levon acting in a few well known movies, and got good reviews, Rick sang with several other musicians as well as on his own. Garth was in demand and played with several other musicians. I think Richard had trouble moving on, and more than the ohters, his relationship with alcohol and drugs probably had something to do with that. Of course Robbie did quite well, composing movie scores for Martin Scorsese.

Great performance. Wasn't mentioned in the reaction, but the back-up singer in silhouette is Joni Mitchell. Neil Young + The Band + Joni Mitchell... hard to go wrong with that

For the movie they had to create what was called the traveling booger matte to cover up the huge rock of cocaine hanging from Neil's nose check out how high he is.

I Love Neil Young and this beautiful song "Helpless" I used to listened to Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young when I was in highschool. "Heart Of Gold" and "Old Man" and "Havest Moon" absolutely love Mr. Neil Young The God Father of Grunge!! Checked out The Bridge School Benefits, Neil and his wife ran it. 1992 is the first time Pearl Jam performed. They are great friends! Awesome reaction Rory! Im so happy you enjoyed Keep Rockin In The Free World!! Thank You Chris for this beautiful request!! 😊🩷🔥🤟✌️

There’s a very small handful of songs that have me bawling my eyes out by the second verse. Most of them are either Neil Young songs or Joni Mitchell songs. Usually not this one, though, but this version definitely makes me well-up by the end. Something about their melody, delicate delivery, and poetic lyricism gets me every time. Neil’s Sugar Mountain. Joni’s Both Sides Now. Those songs are my fucking Kryptonite. By like the end of the fourth bar I’m crying like a baby.

Thom Yourke from Radiohead is another huge Neil Young fan there is an unedited 35 minute interview with Thom that is really interesting all about Neil and Radiohead even covers On The Beach which is up there for me as far as Neils songs.

I vaguely remember Neil Young having been a primary backer and promoter of a portable digital music player called Pomo. I bought one when it was still in the crowd-funding phase, over tern years ago, which I thought was better than Apple’s offering at the time. So this isn’t Neil’s first tangle with big music distribution!

Neil Young influenced Pearl Jam big time, i think thats why Eddie Vedder plays the harmonica because of Neil. Have you seen or heard Eddie harmonica playing? Beautiful!! He sings a song "Yellow Moon" and "Footsteps" really beautifully!! Yellow Moon is a big influence by Neil. My favorite album C.S N. and Young is Deja-Vu a real awesome album. 😊🩷🤟✌️

Yeah I always wondered (and kind’ve assume) if both Neil Young and Axl Rose are just using falsetto in their clearly distinctive ways.

I don't know if anybody mentioned it but Neil Young had a large chunk of cocaine sort of jerry rigged to his nose.. It seems he hadn't slept in awhile so he needed the coke to stay up (well that's Neil's story anyway) Scorcese had to manually edit it out for the film

There was a coke room at Winterland, Robbie said it wasn't very good, and he couldn't indulge too much, seeing he had to at the top of his game. Never the less, before the concert, Robbie went back to his hotel room and try to get some sleep, realizing he had not been sleeping much or eating right. However, as he wrote "now was not the time to have regrets about keeping going with the help of drugs instead of proper food and sleep".
