The Barracks Trail - Part 1| Kanab, UT
This was such an awesome way to spend a day and an absolute must! The scenery is epic. I was having trouble getting the DJI Mavic Pro 2 to follow me otherwise I would have gotten more drone footage but it just wouldn't cooperate.
The Barracks Trail is a 23 mile trail that crosses the Virgin River over 20+ times and plan on taking you pretty much most of the day to run. You can run it North to South like we did, starting at Kanab, UT or South to North starting at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes.
If you're like me, you've watched a lot of videos on this trail and you'll have to take my word that the Sand Hill is no joke. We ran this trail in late January 2022 and I was hoping the sand would be a bit wetter and packed down but it wasn't. It was very deep, loose sand and incredibly steep so as it would be very difficult to walk up it. Get as much run way as you can at the bottom and just SEND IT. Pedal to the metal on this one and take the bypass to the right.
There's a few fun rocky climbs and the river crossings are a blast, but overall, the trail was super fun and fairly moderate. I can't wait to do it again.
